23.01.2022 Thanks Belinda O'Brien for the heads up...a warning to everyone that the Merino Creek has broken its banks near the cemetery & water is over the road. Please avoid if possible & don't drive through flood waters.

21.01.2022 Do not attempt to drive through flood waters and keep informed.

13.01.2022 A landholder in the Henty brigade area will be conducting a planned burn today, under a CFA issued permit. If you see smoke this is most likely what it is. However if you see an unattended fire, please call it in to 000. Note that fire restrictions for the Glenelg Shire are still IN force, and a permit for any fires is still required.

09.01.2022 Message from the Captain: I would like to take the opportunity to thank every one of our brigade members for the ongoing contribution they are making to the brigade and the community. It started out as an extremely busy fire season (although its hard to imagine with this colder weather). I am extremely proud of the efforts and the time given up by our members to respond to critical incidents any time of the day or night. I would also like to thank on behalf of the brigade, th...e Casterton and Merino Group Officers (Jeff and Wayne), Dunrobin Captain (Kelvin) and our neighbouring brigades in both groups. A special shoutout to the Casterton Fire Brigade for their ongoing support and most importantly, their expertise at nearly every one of our incidents (especially house fires and car accidents). Thanks to our BASO (Tim) and the District 4 staff for their ongoing support. A lot happens behind the scenes so thanks to our officers, especially our Secretary (Shirley). For a small brigade we are seeing an increase in callouts, not just for bushfires but for house fires and car accidents too. It is a credit to our members that we can respond in a timely manner and provide the service when it really counts. We of course cannot do this without the ongoing support of the community. Whether it be a donation or simply allowing us to do our job uninterrupted, this ensures the Henty RFB can provide the service required of it. I was looking forward to saying all of this in person at the brigade hosted ‘Thankyou’ BBQ after the fire danger period ceased however Covid-19 put a stop to that. Once Covid-19 restrictions have lifted, I would like to extend an invitation to the Henty community, our brigade members and neighbouring brigade members to a ‘Thankyou’ BBQ at our local hall, to recognise the contributions of a wider team effort. Stay safe. Damien Henty-Anderson Captain

08.01.2022 The fire restrictions for the Glenelg Shire Council will be lifted as of the 20th April. You still must register your burnoff with VicFire on 1800 668 511 (no matter the material or size). All reasonable care and responsibility must be taken to ensure a safe and controlled burn.
