10.01.2022 Visitors will have the opportunity to learn, taste, touch, smell and experience the region’s finest food and wine first hand at Henty Machinery Field Day’s Farm... Gate Produce Market. The market has grown into a key attraction at the field days, which will be held on Tuesday, September 17 to Thursday, September 19. Featuring almost 30 regional exhibitors, the Farm Gate pavilion is located on the southern edge of the field day site and will host cooking demonstrations, and talks by food presenters. These will include tips on pie making with entrepreneur Kate Wendt, and recipes using the new super food, lupins, from Lupins For Life, breakfast creations from Brushwoods Australia, and explore Italian, French and Australian sparkling wines with Cofield Wines. There will be plenty of tips and advice from micro flower farmer Sophie Kurylowicz from Little Triffids Flowers. Adding to the atmosphere will be talented regional musicians, Happy Hour, on the sound stage. Farm Gate co-ordinator Ordette Mannering, of Albury, is excited about taking part in an event that celebrates this region and its produce. Ms Mannering said Farm Gate was a growth area of Henty and showcased the fruits of the labours of those working the land. She said Farm Gate was all about showcasing local product, businesses and expertise. Ranging from regional wines and spirits to preserves, condiments, smoked smallgoods, pastries, raw honey, artisan breads, herbal teas, handmade pies and gourmet coffee, the market caters for produce primarily grown and value added in southern NSW and Victoria’s North East. New for this year is Natura’s Artisan Ice Creams with gluten, dairy-free, vegan and hal hal among the 60 flavours produced. There will also be plenty of food vendors selling healthy options,’’ Ms Mannering said. There will a hamper draw of gourmet produce from Farm Gate exhibitors draw at 2pm each day. Simply clip out the coupon in the official HMFD program and drop it in the barrel at Farm Gate. 2019 marks the ninth year of Farm Gate and will feature plenty of cooking demonstrations from guest chef Michelle Matusch. Michelle will cook up a storm with regional products, showcase techniques on preparing Tapas and Paella, Asian delights, making camp cooking easy and explain simple ways to create tasty meals for common allergies. I will be running a Producer Showcase this year, where visitors can discover more about our regional produce available in the Farm Gate pavilion from exceptional wineries to herbal teas, and everything in between, Ms Matusch said.
