21.01.2022 Very suitable post if you haven't been maintaining your dog during Covid-19 shutdown.... With the increasing numbers of cross breeds on the market today , i aga...in went back to my grooming friends and got some pictures so ye can see " real" life from everyday groomers around the country- none of the pictures are dogs we groom here may i add. Such a massive explosion of Cockapoos, Labradoodles , Maltichons, Shichons as well as pedigree dogs like Bichons, Shih tsu's , Maltese etc As groomers we ( i'm generalizing ) are getting quiet a bit of abuse - yes abuse from some owners when they drop their dogs off for grooming and come back to what may only be described as a " skinned " dog.. They then resort to social media to leave scathing reviews when really the groomer has freed the dog from discomfort and possibly pain..NO groomer will hurt a dog for vanity sake. I certainly won't. Of course we are told " Yes i brush it EVERYDAY " .As trained groomers we KNOW a dog that's being maintained at home and one that is not These " new breeds" of dogs have a mixed coat type, some can be very soft almost cotton wool texture and others if you are lucky may have more Poodle ( wiry ) type hair. Puppies need to be introduced to grooming from the minute it arrives in your home.. It needs to be introduced to the person who will be grooming it for many many years at an early stage and we recommend about 14 weeks for its first meet and greet . Soft high maintenance coats will need professional grooming WITH home maintenance - very 8-12 weeks if not sooner some every 4-6 weeks depending on the dogs lifestyle and how it is kept at home. It's NOT your groomers job to brush your dog... that is YOUR JOB as it's owner.. We cannot undo 8-12 weeks of NO maintenance in a few hours..Yes we will brush the coat pre-grooming IF we can. We are not in the job to torture any dogs for vanity sake so arriving with a badly matted dog and saying " Oh i like him long " ain't gonna happen if your pet is matted - end of. Brushes and combs are inexpensive, sit you dog down from a puppy and make it 10 minutes every night of " bonding" time.. yes they may pull away and try and bite the brush but gently perseverance with give it a positive vibe about his grooming schedule at home.. they will love you for it . So have a look at " real daily life" of a groomer... and look at your pet... does it need a visit to the groomer ? Can u get a comb through its coat from head to tail ? 08.01.2022 I’ve seen first hand the advice big pharmaceutical companies give to vet students at industry nights. It wasn’t a pleasing thing to watch. I also know in my job at a rural store, what the companies will give us if we sell so much if their product and take their online training modules etc. We live in a world ruled by greed and ours and our animals health are the ones being used as pawns for it.

06.01.2022 Keep an eye out people... Not just in your own back yard, but if out walking and in parks as well. Some sick, twisted people out there and some openly state their dislike for dogs. If a human dislikes an animal then there's a fair chance I'll dislike that human greatly.

02.01.2022 Talk about the definition of loyalty This amazing girl was found last night laying next her her deceased owner. It is suspected the owner had been deceased fo...r approximately 6 weeks. She is now a third of her body weight and extremely weak but has hung in there to sit with her Dad until someone came to find him. (according to the police officer who got her and dad out of the house, judging by the poo around them, she didn't stray far from his side) The friend who found him contacted us Red Collar Rescue Inc. Biggenden to come and collect her and last night she had shower (boy, did she need it) she feasted on a big meal, drank fresh water and layed in a nice warm bed. The emotional stress that she would have been through is incomprehensible. My heart aches for her and her owner who would have gone without a visitor for 6 whole weeks! Please if you have elderly friends and family who live alone, please, please, please check on them regularly. After all, they most likely spent years checking on you and looking out for you.
