16.01.2022 Celebrating #IWD2020 today - celebrating girls and women - so eloquently presented by Aunty Anne. How are you celebrating girls and women and the value they present to our families, our communities and our world?

16.01.2022 To be sent to parents of youth aged 13 to 17 living in Queensland on behalf of The University of Queensland research team, Dr. Richard Buning, ([email protected]) and Dr. Shane Pegg ([email protected]). Dear Parent/Guardian, Researchers at The University of Queensland are undertaking research to understand what prevents and enables youth (aged 13 to 17) to participate in outdoor recreation. This is an industry lead project by the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation (QORF...) and is proudly supported by the Queensland Government to get more Queenslanders active through outdoor recreation. They would like to ask questions of your child enrolled as a Girl Guides Queensland about the activities they like to do, a bit about them, and their opinion about the importance of outdoor recreation. The researchers request that you provide your consent for your child to answer this survey. By passing on the survey to your child to complete online, or completing it with your child, you provide implied consent for them to do so. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. This research has university ethics approval. By completing the survey our club will go into the draw to win a $500 gift card. To complete the survey, please click below https://uqbel.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ebNbVFL4Gv2A9gx Yours sincerely, Girl Guides Queensland

11.01.2022 This International Volunteer Day - Volunteer for an Inclusive Future Today marks International Volunteer Day (IVD), celebrating the theme of Volunteer for an Inclusive Future. This year IVD highlights volunteers contributing to inclusion, and Sustainable Development Goal 10, reducing inequality within and among countries. Volunteering provides opportunities for people, particularly those often excluded, to positively impact their own lives and play a constructive role in th...eir communities by volunteering their time and skills. Through volunteerism, communities around the world often experience strengthened solidarity and inclusion. IVD is a day of celebration for volunteers to be acknowledged for their action and their value, and to promote their contribution locally and globally. In Australia one in three people engage in formal volunteering activities and programs with many more volunteering informally across a diverse range of sectors. Don’t forget to share your International Volunteer Day celebrations by using the hashtags #IVD2019 and #Volunteer4Inclusion. For more information about IVD or to find a volunteer role visit www.volunteeringaustralia.org.
