23.01.2022 Supervisor Rocky is keeping his eye on the restoration of BL759 and making sure everything is to his high standard. Young John is making notes and having flashbacks to four years ago when he started work on BL769. Lawrie is rustproofing under the carriage. #herbertonworkshop #preservinghistory #athertontablelands

22.01.2022 Lots happening at Herberton workshop is morning. Dempseys crane crew were in to help lift the body of BL759 carriage off its bogies and onto stands. It is our next restoration project. Always up for a challenge at AHHR. #herbertonworkshop #athertontablelands #preservinghistory

21.01.2022 This week we received a very precious delivery donated to us from WA. We have been looking for one of these for several years and thanks Woody for finding it. It is a 6" steam compressor and was restored by Roger Jowitt and Geoff Cooper. It will be used to run the brake system on Peckett 1069. The smiles on Steve's and Terry's faces tell it all as they were getting worried that they might have to make one if one could not be found. #herbertonworkshop #preservinghistory #athertontablelands

20.01.2022 Our track teams have been working on a long stretch of the rail corridor at Wongabel. What a difference it makes to be able see such a distance in both directions from our Wongabel siding. Great job!! #wongabel #trackmaintenance #preservinghistory #historicrailway #fantasticvolunteers

20.01.2022 Thanks to the TRC Mayor Rod and Councillors Bernie, Annette, Peter and Kevin who visited our Herberton workshop this morning. We were pleased to be able to show them the work our volunteers have done to make our railway into an important tourist experience for the AthertonTablelands. Train crew Dave and Dave took them on a Tinlander ride along the picturesque Wild River. We would like to thank them for their interest and for taking the time to come to the workshop on such a brisk morning. #herbertonstation #athertontablelands #TRC

20.01.2022 Dave is hard at work polishing the brass and copper on Peckett 1069. What a great job he is doing. #steamlocomotive #herbertonworkshop #preservinghistory #athertontablelands

19.01.2022 Lawrie is refurbishing the axles for the Mulgrave Mill No 2 loco donated to us by MSF sugar, Gordonvale. We are slowly working on its restoration. Join in on our workshop tours on Sunday when the Tinlander is running from 10am to 2pm Herberton Station. #herbertonstation #athertontablelands #MSFsugargordonvale #preservinghistory

17.01.2022 It's VP Day today. Did you know there was a large encampment at Wonhabel? Our railway was very important for moving troops stationed on the Tablelands. The area saw many troops camped there including the 10th Field Company RAE, 2/2nd Australian Pioneer Battalion and the 2/6 Australian Independent Company to just name a few. The Governor General, the Duke of Gloucester paid a visit in February 1945 (Australian War Memorial photo). Chris, one of our volunteers has made and erected a sign at Wongabel as there hasn't been one there for several years. Thanks Chris for helping preserve our important history. #preservinghistory #athertontablelands #wongabel #VPDay

17.01.2022 Sandy and her Mum came for a ride on the Tinlander yesterday. It's another beautiful day in Herberton so make a plan to come for a ride. We are running today, Saturday and Sunday. #funride #herbertonstation

16.01.2022 A big thank you to the Atherton Lionesses for their generous support of our railway with a donation of $500. The ladies are great supporters our our local Tableland community. #Lionesses #herbertonstation #athertontablelands

16.01.2022 If you are looking for something to do with the kids take them down to Platypus Park Station in Atherton. There is a great model railway running on the days the Station Cafe is open. $1 gives 5 minutes with 3 trains going. All proceeds go to the railway. Well done Bryan, John, Mark and Liz. #modelrailway #platypuspark #talentedvolunteers #athertontablands

14.01.2022 Paddy is painting the loovered van. The volunteers have sanded it all back and are now painting it. It is looking fantastic. #volunteers #herbertonworkshop

13.01.2022 The weather is good for our gardens but not good for running the Tinlander. Even though it is too wet to run the Tinlander today the Herberton Station Museum and workshop will still be open until lunchtime. Our Station Master Ben will be there to have a chat to everyone who would like to visit. #herbertonstation

12.01.2022 What a beautiful day to ride the Tinlander from Herberton Station to the Historic Village and return. We are running from Wednesday to Sunday and the same next week. 10am to 2pm. Great value at $5 adults and $3 children. #funride #herbertonstation #athertontablelands

12.01.2022 Steve has installed the Westinghouse compressor on 1069 Peckett. It is now going to have a coat of green paint to match. #herbertonworkshop #preservinghistory #athertontablelands #steamlocomotive

11.01.2022 Who watched the Secrets of the Railways programme on SBS last night? Isn't it great to see our 110 year old railway acknowledged as an important part of the history of the Tablelands and WW2 by an overseas TV programme! This is what AHHR is trying to preserve by keeping this track alive. Wouldn't it be fantastic to get the funding to upgrade the bridges and be able to run between Atherton and Herberton! In the mean time we are running the Tinlander again tomorrow with a normal timetable starting at the Herberton Station at 10am. The weather is going to be beautiful so come for a day out in Herberton. #herbertonstation #preservinghistory #athertontablelands

10.01.2022 Thanks to our friends from Lanotec for supplying us with their great products. We appreciate their continuing support. Don't forget to support the people who support us. #lanotec #herbertonworkshop

09.01.2022 Jon, one of our great volunteers, has started on the restoration of BL759 and is welding steps for the carriage. #talentedvolunteers #herbertonworkshop #athertontablelands #preservinghistory

08.01.2022 Great news!! The bridge timbers have been found! It was a genuine mistake by the people who took them and we really appreciate that they contacted us as soon as they found out. They are returning them at the weekend. Thanks to everyone who supported us over this. Our volunteers work so hard and they really appreciate the support we receive from the community. Thanks again to everyone involved.

07.01.2022 Someone left their water bottle on the train yesterday. Let us know if it is yours. We are running the Tinlander today and from Wednesday to Sunday next week 10am to 2pm. 06.01.2022 It is wattle day today. We are very lucky to have wattle trees along our track and they flower at different times of year making for a lovely trip along the river all year. It is Father's Day on Sunday, why don't you bring Dad up for a ride on the Tinlander and do a workshop tour to see the Peckett steam loco and our beautifully restored carriage. #herbertonworkshop #preservinghistory #athertontablelands #fathersday #tinlanderrides

05.01.2022 The Atherton track crew joined with the Herberton workshop volunteers, local land holders and RFS volunteers to burn the rail corridor between the Wongabel road crossing and Wongabel siding. Thanks for everybody's help on the job and use of extra equipment from the RFS. #fantasticvolunteers #rfs #herberton #atherton

05.01.2022 Here is the beginning and the end! BL759 is about to start its restoration and BL769 is at the end of its restoration. What an amazing journey it has been for our volunteers. There is a real sense of satisfaction to see where they have come from. #herbertonworkshop #preservinghistory #athertontablelands

04.01.2022 Bob is checking out what Mark has been making on the milling machine this morning. He has machined new sprockets for one of the section cars doing track maintaince on the Atherton end. Need to get the section car running again for the Atherton crew as they are doing such a great job on the track between Hastie Road and the top of the Herberton Range. #talentedvolunteers #herbertonworkshop #athertontablelands
