22.01.2022 More great news for the Herbert River Men's Shed Inc,. We now have a 12X6 mtr skillion roof at the rear of the woodwork shed. Drying racks will now be installed under the roof, where the newly milled timber will be stored for drying. We also would like to build a small finishing clean room under this roof. This will allow us to apply lacquer, paints and varnishes, without concerns about contamination from sawdust etc,. This may have to wait until funds become available for this undertaking.
20.01.2022 Keith Hogg, of the Station Hotel is very happy with his new Greeting Desk, built by the Herbert River Men's Shed Inc,.
13.01.2022 Some sage advice for those contemplating air travel, supplied by Vic Hill
12.01.2022 A very excited young lady, Talisha Stokes, picked up her new table this morning. Many thanks to Neil from Significant Signs for the artwork.
12.01.2022 Another humorous post from Vic Hill My urologist's office called the other day and explained that my scheduled appointment would now have to be done over the phone/computer due to the coronavirus pandemic. One hour before the scheduled teleconference, I was instructed (via email) to administer my own urine test because the lab was understaffed and backed up with an unusually high volume of tests.... INSTRUCTIONS FOR MALE SELF URINE TEST: > Simply go outside and pee in the front yard. If ants gather: DIABETES If you pee on your feet: PROSTRATE If it smells like a barbecue: HIGH CHOLESTEROL If your wrist hurts when you shake it: OSTEOARTHRITIS. If you return to your house with your penis outside your pants: ALZHEIMER’S.
11.01.2022 In Rotary Park you will notice a RED seat. This was constructed by the Members of the shed for Council for domestic violence/mental health week.
08.01.2022 Hi All we have received a donation of model aircraft from an avid local model builder and it would be a shame for them NOT go to a good home. Photos to follow tomorrow. Call at the Men's Shed to View.
08.01.2022 Ladies DIY Classes. It has been decided that the proposed classes for this year be held over until some time in the first quarter of 2021. Sorry to disappoint those who were hoping to make Christmas gifts. Sorry for the inconvenience.
07.01.2022 This week we feature another son of Ingham, Aldo Lavarini. Aldo was born, schooled and after marrying Linda, spent most of his working life in the district. Aldo and Linda have two sons, Vance and Wayne. Aldo started working for Development Enterprises, now Moduline Kitchens. Aldo then went on to establish Ingham Agencies with Paul Torresan. Aldo sold out to Paul in 78 and started with John Dwyer at Ford where he stayed for 11 years. After leaving Dwyer, Aldo started Ingham M...otor Parts and ACC, with his two sons. From 2000-2006 Aldo was the branch Manager for Carmichael Ford. Following this Aldo and Linda travelled for 5 years, returning home in 2011. Although Aldo still enjoys travelling, he helps his son Vance, by delivering liquid fertilizer when not retired. Aldo is a very valuable member of the Men's shed and can be seen above with his popular possum traps. See more

05.01.2022 This week we feature a long time member of the Hinchinbrook community and retired veterinarian, Ian Merritt. Following retirement, Ian developed a considerable interest in woodworking, in particular, milling. Ian has become our chief miller, producing considerable amounts of both slabs and boards. We now have a skillion roof under which to dry our timber. Ian has also produced some fine tables, benches and shelves, as seen below.. Ian specializes in natural edge. Ian's other passion is of course his chaff burners and is a keen polo-cross player.
01.01.2022 Hi all Trevor Hoffensetz, who makes all the whirly gigs that you see around town, makes them out of old Venetian blinds. The trouble is, Trevor is running out of blinds.... Therefore we are requesting anyone who has old blinds, to bring them into the Men’s Shed, so that Trevor can continue his good work. Your assistance in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
