25.01.2022 Central to the HERE ME project is the creative process and the community established amongst young people across different schools in the local area. Young people developing self-awareness and self-confidence, using their bodies in space as a vehicle to allow them as a group to learn about and express themselves, performing in and owning spaces that they dont normally own. All that young people crave is to be listened to. To be heard is to feel like they belong, that they ...matter, that their opinions count. We are very excited to be holding our workshops at the fantastic local venue Two Floors. Now just 4 weeks away, spaces are limited so spread the word and share this page to your networks to ensure that no-one misses out! Sign up HERE: bit.ly/heremesignup Proudly funded by Yarra Ranges Council

25.01.2022 https://publicdelivery.org/willi-dorner-bodies-in-urban-sp/ HERE ME takes inspiration from "Bodies in Urban Spaces" by Austrian artist Willi Dorner. "Bodies in Urban Spaces is a moving trail, choreographed for a group of dancers. The performers lead the audience through selected public and semi-public spaces, allowing them to perceive the same space or place in a new and different way. The intention of Bodies in Urban Spaces is to point out urban functional structures, as we...ll as the rules and limitations in urban spaces." First performed during a tour of Austria, England, France, Norway, Sweden, Finland and the US in 2009 and later in Sydney in 2014, the concept has been featured in The Guardian, Frankie magazine, HuffPost, Australian Arts Review, Amazon and more. Make sure you dont miss being a part of it here in Melbourne in 2020! Sign up HERE: bit.ly/heremesignup

23.01.2022 Another free, worthwhile, creative opportunity for young people these next school holidays. Check it out and sign up soonet rather than later. https://www.artscentremelbourne.com.au/festival-a/the-kiln

21.01.2022 Such a joy and privilege to be working with this group of young people. We were all feeling "good", "nervous but excited", "a bit tired" and "enthusiastic". We have been developing skills working with counter balance vs counter tension, exploring horizontal and vertical spaces. Also checking out spaces in town and planning our performance! We cant wait to show you what we create on Saturday morning!... Once again thanks to Two Floors Belgrave Emporium Yarra Ranges Council Burrinja for making this happen! #heremebelgrave #youthartsbelgrave

18.01.2022 HERE ME will be taking up some space at the upcoming Patch Festival on Saturday 19th October! Check out the days events here... https://www.facebook.com/events/647791045633396/?ti=as

18.01.2022 Artworks "Surrealesville" and "Kids these days" (pictured) are the outcome of a Youth Art Project led by artist Glsen zer and supported by Yarra Ranges Council and the It Takes a Town Steering Group. During 2018, Glsen worked with Healesville young people, aged 13-18 years, in a series of creative development workshops to co create these two temporary public artworks. Both pieces are on display from March til June 2019. Another great local youth arts project! #heremebelgrave #youthartsbelgrave

18.01.2022 HERE ME was out in full colour once again at the recent Patch Festival last Saturday 19th October. Thank you Samantha Moon and team for having us involved!

18.01.2022 We did it! HERE ME had teenagers take up space in the streets of Belgrave, flashmob-style! Sharing their voices and offering a different perspective in a creative and empowering way. It was an absolute privilege and joy to have worked with this exceptional group of young people. I thank them for collaborating on this project and sharing their voices. For their enthusiasm and willingness to try something different, for their dedication over the three-days, their playfulness, e...nergy and courage. Thank you Amber, Ben, Ezekiel, Iambien, Jarrod, Michaela, Roxy, Scarlett, Tate and Zarah. You are all total rock stars! Check them out! HERE ME literally stopped traffic and attracted a curious travelling audience. Kate Baker (photography) and Ben Callaghan (videography) captured the whole event unfolding, and were seen lying on the road and weaving traffic chasing the action. So coo! We would not have been able to pull this off in quite the same way without the physical theatre skills workshop facilitated by Jonathan Sinatra and the Youth Team from Inspiro for letting us have Evelyn Kourouvanis hangout with us. #heremebelgrave #youthartsbelgrave

13.01.2022 Project Director Dani-Ela Keylar tells us more about HERE ME, Any person aged 12-18 can participate, as long as you are committed to the 4-days of creative development and performance. You are offered a safe, fun environment within which to challenge and express yourself amongst peers. We are drawing attention to the ideas, opinions and awesomeness of teenagers in the community! ... The project invites you to co-create and make HERE ME together; taking up space, creating shapes with our bodies to take up and fill space, with a message to share that gets people thinking differently. Whats the point? Why? What are we trying to say? We want to see teenagers take up space, have a voice, and offer the community out there a different perspective about how they see teenagers and their important place in it. At the same time giving YOU an opportunity to have a voice, be heard and seen. And together we are going to create performance art! We will develop a flashmob-style performance artwork that will appear and then disperse throughout the main and back streets of Belgrave and Upwey. 11.01.2022 https://www.cameocinemas.com.au/ A big thank you to Cameo Cinemas for supporting HERE ME this year. If you are headed to the movies over the next few weeks look out for the big screen promo of our project.

10.01.2022 Dear HERE ME supporters, I hope you are all managing the rapidly changing circumstances as best as you can. This is such a blow... and demands some creative adjusting and self care. After much thoughtful consideration with my team, Yarra Ranges Council and the general advice about how to modify our behaviour and interactions, we have made the decision to postpone the HERE ME project to Easter holidays 2021.... We are truly devastated. It has been a significant amount of work since August last year getting to this place. The community support and momentum behind the project with early registrations has been so encouraging. The decision to postpone rests largely on the fact that we will all be working so closely together in the workshop phase. At the same time we recognize, it is especially at times like these that art, community and shared experiences are so important. So this is really challenging to let this project go. Yet we also feel it would be irresponsible to continue as planned, considering the social distancing recommendations. We sincerely thank you for your support in either expressing interest, committing to, and/or promoting the project. Yet we have no doubt that we will be able to pick up that momentum again next year and back bigger and stronger. We will keep you posted and hope to confirm 2021 dates end of the year. But at this point in time, wed be aiming to run HERE ME in the first week of the Easter school holidays, Wednesday 7th April - Saturday 10th April 2021. May you all continue through these interesting, uncertain times with health, good spirits and care.

10.01.2022 In 5 weeks time HERE ME will be bringing performance art to the streets of Belgrave so... what is performance art? Performance art is a performance of some sort that can happen anywhere for any length of time that challenges the audience to think in new or different ways. It can be scripted or unscripted, spontaneous or otherwise carefully planned with or without audience participation. HERE ME will be a flashmob-style performance art event in Belgrave. Im sure youve all ...seen a flashmob, right? Well this project is sorta like that, but different. No dancing just making shapes and taking up space. Artists who make performance art have something they want to tell the public through their artwork. So... got something to say about the misconceptions about teenagers these days? I bet you do! #heremebelgrave #youthartsbelgrave
