The site slopes gently down to a stream and has beautiful views to the East and South. 07.01.2022 Situated in Ballarat, this home is a modern extension of a classic #Victorianhouse where the extension carefully winds itself around a symbolic tree that the owners wished to preserve. The modern-clad extension faces the traditional wooden cladding of the existing house. It is divided into three zones; two built and one landscaped. These two built zones are divided into a social living / dining block and a private, stacked bedroom block. 07.01.2022 One from our archive is this #homeextension in #Mansfield. The starting concept shown here describes a transition along a dragon's back from the mountain temple to the sea. The clients chose this beautiful site "because of its capacity for #sustainability, permanent water supply, proximity (and distance) to Mansfield and Melbourne, proximity to #MtBuller, and because of its Zen essence". Instead of demolishing and starting anew, we worked to retain almost the entirety of the existing house including using existing openings and most of the current rooms. Our goal was to make the house more open, inspiring, comfortable and thermally effective.
