Bushfires The Loss of Kobe & Gigi Bryant A Global Pandemic Covid-19 Restrictions & Lockdowns Black & Indigenous Lives Matter Movements Postponed WABL & SBL Seasons.. just to name a few ... 12.01.2022 Last week, Maddie Allen and I had the chance to catch up with Charles Kativu and Eric Paul Goldie for their radio show, BALLS EPISODE 2: Women in Basketball. We talked about basketball, women’s sports in general, and most importantly, we talked about the rising momentum of the Black Lives Matter movement. Like so many others in the Her Hoops family, I am a basketball player some of the time, and a black woman every second of my life. ... Her Hoops was developed because I didn’t grow up with coaches who looked like me or who understood my experiences. I was taught early on that both my blackness and my womanhood were both struggles to overcome in order to be successful. Let's be clear, BLM is not a political movement. It is a human rights issue that we at Her Hoops care about passionately. In our roles as mentors to the next generation we see it as our moral obligation to believe in the value of black lives both in the US but also here in Australia
