17.01.2022 To celebrate our Castle Hill and Parramatta branches turning one, we ran a personal loan promotion in October and November giving people the chance to win $500 Woolworths WISH gift cards. 14.01.2022 We’re proud to share with you the stories and inspiration behind some of the amazing winning images from the 2020 Heritage Bank Awards, straight from the photographers themselves. First up, Trung Nguyen, Winner of the 2020 Open Category with Swirling Sky. The lighthouse has stood on the headlands at Norah Head for 117 years as a beacon of safety for the area.... I have taken many photographs of this iconic Central Coast lighthouse over the years, from all different angles and at different times of the day. I chose this particular photograph because I liked the turbulent swell of the ocean in the foreground. I wanted to replicate this movement in the sky, hence I created the swirling sky, which also serves to represent the light that shines from the lighthouse. To me this photograph represents strength, endurance and safety, which are all qualities particularly relevant at this time.

09.01.2022 Last Friday more than 120 members of the business community hit the greens in support of the annual Heritage Bank Charity Golf Day in Toowoomba. Amazingly, the Golf Day has now raised over $900,000 for Queensland charities and community groups over the past 23 years! Each year funds raised are distributed to community and charity organisations. Beneficiaries from this year’s event will be announced at a special presentation early next year. 07.01.2022 Big news we are proud to announce our new national partnership with leading food rescue organisation OzHarvest! We’re joining the OzHarvest community and helping to reduce food waste and feed families in need around the country. Over the next two years Heritage’s support will help OzHarvest deliver an additional 200,000 meals a year to support some the most vulnerable in our community. This equates to saving nearly 70,000 kilograms of food from landfill, and preventing 140,000 kilograms of greenhouse emissions being released into the atmosphere. At that stage I didn’t know what the final image would be. I let his pose and expression tell the story.

COVID-safe restrictions meant some changes to the iconic Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers but we wanted to do something to keep the Carnival spirit going. 04.01.2022 Sowing After Drought by Guy Draper won CEO’s Choice in the 2020 Heritage Bank Photographic Awards. Big thanks to Guy for sharing the story and inspiration behind this amazing image. I always have my camera equipment with me and regularly drive the back roads of the Barossa, performing my work as a Real Estate agent, or pursuing my photographic hobby. I am always on the lookout for something of interest, something that tells a story, something that most people won’t or don...’t see. As soon as I saw the farmer (Mr Graue) still hard at it, as the sun was going down, I knew there were opportunities to capture images that would convey a story. The clean, uncluttered horizon, farmer, machine and a setting sun provided that opportunity, all I had to do was chose the right lens, settings and position, then wait for everything to align. I feel the ‘resilience’ aspect comes from knowing that this farming family have been working this land for many decades, through good years and, like more recent times, tough years. Mr Graue would be in his 80s, is a kind, humble and gentle man, he doesn’t have the most up to date machinery, doesn’t have the biggest farm, the best fences or the highest producing grapevines, he simply cares for what he has and toils to make an honest living for himself and his family.

02.01.2022 We’re absolutely delighted to partner with University of Southern Queensland - Australia to launch the Heritage Bank Peter Cleary Memorial Scholarship. Peter Cleary had a 24-year career at Heritage, including a significant period as the bank’s Chief Financial Officer. Peter’s contribution and leadership to Heritage and the local Toowoomba community was immense, a true example of Heritage’s people first culture. To honour his memory, Heritage and USQ have established a new sc...holarship in his name to assist a second-year student from rural or remote Queensland area doing a business or commerce degree at USQ. It was a really special moment to have Peter’s wife Marie join USQ Vice-Chancellor Professor Geraldine Mackenzie and Heritage Bank CEO Peter Lock to witness the signing of the agreement. The first Heritage Bank Peter Cleary Memorial Scholarship will be awarded in 2021. Applications will open next January, and the scholarship recipient will be announced in February.
