22.01.2022 Death and loss is a natural part of life. While we can never completely protect and prepare ourselves for dealing with death, we can work to remove the sense of taboo that surrounds it. #dyingtoknowday #letstalkaboutdeath #starttheconversation #yourgoodbye #AFDA

18.01.2022 AFDA is monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic situation closely to ensure that our Members, staff and client families are supported through these unprecedented times.... AFDA continues to lead the conversation with State and Federal Governments regarding guidelines for funeral service during the COVID-19 pandemic. AFDAs number one concern remains the safety of our Members, staff and client families when arranging and conducting funerals. Our Members are doing all that they can to mitigate the spread of the virus by providing clean and safe environments for staff and client families. AFDA Members can provide options for families which may include live streaming or recording options where large numbers of mourners are anticipated. We know that physical touch is so important at a time of loss but to keep everyone safe we ask that handshaking, hugging and kissing be avoided. For further information on Coronavirus (COVID-19), how to protect yourself and others as well as how to detect symptoms and what to do if youre concerned, visit www.health.gov.au See more

13.01.2022 ABC Four Corners will be airing a program tonight critical of a number of aspects of the funeral industry. AFDA National President Andrew Pinder spoke with Fou...r Corners at length on behalf of AFDA and requested a formal on camera interview as part of the program to put forward our position on various items including AFDA standards. Four Corners declined AFDAs offer for an interview. We can only stress that any genuine attempt by the media to portray the funeral industry cannot be achieved credibly without adequate reference to the largest industry association in Australia, which demonstrates the effectiveness of self-regulation of AFDA Members. AFDA Members are bound by a strict Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct and must comply with the required standards for premises, equipment and vehicles, thus providing our client families the utmost confidence they will be treated with the highest principles of honesty, fair dealing and professionalism. #AFDA #promotingprofessionalfuneralstandards

12.01.2022 The AFDA supports stronger legislation across the Australian funeral industry, particularly in Queensland. We continue to work with Government at all levels to... strengthen and enhance legislation. We are shocked and saddened to hear media reporting that fake coffins or coffin switching is allegedly happening within the industry. Unfortunately without rigorous Government regulation reports such as this will continue to erode the reputation of the Australian funeral industry. AFDA Members are bound by our Code of Professional Conduct which requires all Members to abide by their ethical obligations. It states: - Funeral Directors shall not engage in any unprofessional conduct of a character likely to deceive, defraud or harm the families they serve in the course of providing professional services. - Funeral Directors shall not engage in any unprofessional conduct which is likely to defraud or deceive the public. Membership is also bound by set standards surrounding their premises, equipment and vehicles all of which are independently inspected every three years to ensure compliance. Continual professional development and training is also compulsory for membership. Our Members are proud of the service they provide to their communities and do so with care, compassion and professionalism We can only stress the necessity for all funeral operators to uphold their own internal regulations, industry regulations, and those of their respective states of operation. #AFDA #promotingprofessionalfuneralstandards

02.01.2022 Funeral Homes are calling for more compassion and clarity from the State government. They want restrictions to be loosened, so that extra staff can attend services, and ensure loved ones are laid to rest safely, but respectfully. www.7NEWS.com.au #7NEWS
