17.01.2022 batyr We are very excited to be helping batyr fund additional batyr@school programs in Brisbane. batyr exists to smash the stigma around mental health and increase help seeking rates. Through sharing real, relatable and resilient mental health stories in a safe and impactful way, batyr are changing the way young people view and talk about mental health and access support. Created by young people, for young people, batyr are taking a positive approach to mental health educa...tion and prevention. 5 things you should know about batyr 1. batyr is a ‘for purpose’ preventative mental health organisation, created and driven by young people, for young people. Our programs address the elephant in the room in a unique and relatable way for young audiences, utilising trained speakers with a lived experience with mental ill health. We smash the stigma surrounding mental health and empower young people to reach out. 2. Since 2011, batyr have trained over 600 young people to share their stories, and have delivered programs in 400 schools and six universities - reaching over 220,000 young people with positive messages of hope, recovery and resilience. 3. batyr trains young people to speak about their personal experience with mental ill health and start positive conversations in their community. 4. batyr then train facilitators to take young speakers into schools and universities across the country to share their story in a structured and dynamic way to promote mental health awareness, peer-to-peer support, positive help seeking behaviours and pathways to further care. 5. The batyr@school and batyr@uni programs empower young people to reach out for support from a wide range of mental health services around them (School Counsellors, GPs, not-for-profit service providers), and improve overall mental health literacy. It was very special to involve the team at Heritage’s Parramatta Branch in handing over the big cheque. #smashthestigma #batyr #growingstrongercommunitiestogether

09.01.2022 In very good company It was great to attend Wishlist's scholarship award ceremony last night. They presented $23,000 in academic scholarships aimed at improving health care services on the Sunshine Coast. After the award ceremony we visited the Wishlist office to unveil their updated Supporter Wall. It was a very proud moment to see the Foundation recognised with so many other wonderful contributors to the Sunshine Coast community. ... Thanks for the honour Wishlist! #wishlist #hbcf #growingstrongercommunitiestogether

07.01.2022 Wishlist Wishlist is dedicated to fundraising for the needs of the Sunshine Coast Hospital Service. They are committed to improving local public health services, and one way they do this is through their ‘wish list’, where local Sunshine Coast health staff can apply for funding for priority needs. The Foundation’s funding will support their 'Kits for Kids' Program. This program provides backpacks for children of all ages who are entering out-of-home-care under the Departm...ent of Child Safety in the Sunshine Coast region. After an initial health assessment, Child Protection Liaison Officers give the child a backpack filled with resources such as a new set of pj's, clothes and underwear, a soft toy, and any baby care items or basic grooming essentials like a toothbrush. Packs contents vary depending on the age and needs of the child. The simple gesture of a bag with resources and special items for the child, offers comfort in the most distressing and traumatic time in their life. We are thrilled to renew Heritage’s relationship with Wishlist. In the 1990’s Heritage had a long standing partnership with Wishlist which raised $160,500 to support their work. Heritage Bank CEO Peter Lock presented the cheque along with local Sunshine Coast Heritage staff members Ken and Robyn. 5 things you should know about Wishlist 1. For the past 21 years, Wishlist has been raising funds to support the Sunshine Coast Health and Hospital Service (SCHHS) which includes five public hospitals; Caloundra, Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Nambour, Maleny and Gympie hospitals along with local auxiliary services. 2. Every year, Wishlist pledges to direct $1 million dollars to priority needs of these hospitals, to fund local medical research, medical equipment, patient support services, emergency hospital accommodation and staff scholarships. 3. SCHHS staff are able to apply to Wishlist for project funding for initiatives to support patient services. Once approved, the projects are placed on the Wish List to await funding. 4. The Child Protection Liaison Unit who work within the SCHHS - have identified the need for Kits for Kids for children entering out-of-home-care. 5. Children are usually displaced due to a traumatic family event and arrive with little clothing and no belongings. These kits are a backpack filled with new clothes like pyjamas, underwear and casual clothes, plus a teddy to provide comfort, a book pack to help with trauma, and essential grooming items. #wishlist #growingstrongercommunitiestogether

04.01.2022 Trivia Night Not only have we been busy distributing our grants, we have also successfully held our first official fundraiser! A United Nations of Trivia fundraiser was held when Heritage Bank staff, with their family and friends, competed in a unique trivia night held remotely via video conference.... As you know COVID-19 has made it difficult for charities to plan face-to-face events given physical distancing restrictions, so holding 'trivia with a twist' by video conferencing meant everyone could attend. The very generous Heritage staff raised about $6,000 on the night which will support the Foundation to further fund tremendous work being done by charities across Australia. It’s been a really thrilling time for the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation as we have just distributed $90,000 in our first grants round to some wonderful charities. Following that up soon after with our first real fundraising event has added to the excitement. A massive thanks goes to the generous businesses who supported the event: Heritage Landmark Resort Oaks Hotels Q Super Centre Chempro Chemist Watch this space. We’ll definitely stage some more fun events in 2021 to give Heritage’s staff and members plenty of enjoyment when they support the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation.

02.01.2022 Sharing the Love At the Foundation our aim is to support our charity partners with both financial and non-financial resources in areas that will provide the largest impact. For our partners the recent $10,000 grants will provide a much needed financial boost, but we are very excited to see what additional impact we achieve by engaging with the Heritage Bank community.... One area we can have a dramatic effect on is helping them create additional awareness of the critical causes they support. We have an amazing opportunity to connect with the Bank’s 300,000 members, 800 staff and their many business partners. This is awareness gold. Many thanks to Heritage’s amazing marketing team for getting the ball rolling with this great in branch promotion of our charity partners. Please look out for it next time you’re in a Heritage branch! #awarenessiscritical #growingstrongercommunitiestogether
