23.01.2022 Orchard Repair: grafting a pollinator crabapple variety onto the stump of a broken branch. This is the only row of eating apples left in the cider block and my ...favorite for juice, Golden Delicious. I am grafting Golden Hornet crabapple on for a pollinator variety for the cider orchard. The type of graft here is a simple one sided bark graft, probably the easiest graft to make when you have small scionwood going onto large base stock. #graftingplants #barkgraft #ciderapples #crabapples #greenhillorchards #appleorchard

06.01.2022 Seasonal update - after frost and recent storms, the impact showing up in the stonefruit is variable. Some fruit is lost, some marked and some tiny fruit is ok, protected and growing well. As Spring warms towards early Summer, small green hard fruit will steadily size and colour. This year, its so beautiful to see healthy trees and lush green growth, responding to good rain after severe drought. Spring storms and rain bring both benefit and risk to developing cherries, peach...es, apricots, nectarines and plums. We manage what we can, are thankful for the good and accept what comes.
