24.01.2022 You can almost see the pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. This stunning shot was taken in Margaret River, in the state's South West, yesterday by local tourism operator Sean Blocksidge. Mr Blocksidge said he was driving down a 4WD track in the evening when he saw a "crazy, intense" rainbow starting to develop over Surfers Point. ... "I jumped out, ran down the Cape track, scrambled across some rocks at Cape Mentelle and lost my hat in the wind. I couldn't care less it's a small price to pay to get the shot," he said. However, the rainbow did bring him some good luck. "I found hat on the way back. Got the double happy's." Mr Blocksidge is one of many Margaret River tourism operators who are preparing to ramp up business following the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions. 07.01.2022 The average mere mortal (like us) takes a good seven days to complete the famous Cape to Cape Trail. But ultra-marathon runner and ecologist Rankin Salinas wants to do it in less than one day! He will set out on April 4 to run the 124 kilometres from Cape Leeuwin to Cape Naturaliste in under 24 hours, traversing some of WA’s most spectacular coastal scenery to raise funds for Nature Conservation Margaret River Region's black cockatoo conservation program.
