14.01.2022 MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO.... Yesterday I had the pleasure of working with a very senior golf course superintendent who consults on golf courses throughout Asia. He was telling me how they would lay turf during the day with an audience of monkeys looking on, only to come back the next morning to find the turf neatly rolled up again.... Who did this you might ask?? The monkeys!! Do you or anyone you know work with trained monkeys??

10.01.2022 Army worm are active at the moment with no variety of lawn resistant to this pest. Without treatment, you may see an advance line in your lawn, leaving behind a decimated mess (hence the term "army worm"). Early signs of lawn army worm activity includes a small red tailed parasitic wasp flying over the lawn, grubs may be visible in the early mornings or in shaded areas during the day and the lawn may look "thirsty" during the heat of the day, even after watering.... For chemical control measures, take a visit to your local nursery or hardware store and look for a good quality lawn grub killer. I am more than happy to assist with free phone consultations, my number is 0427 355 430. "Keeping the green side up" Iain Sommerlad

03.01.2022 As posted last week, army worm are active! I discussed an advance line which may be seen if early signs of grub activity remain undetected. This photo shows a prominent advance line with thinning of the sward a few meters in front of it. This damage occurred in under a week!... Should you see this it is important to act quickly! Spray the effected area and well ahead of the advance line, preferably the entire lawn using a good quality lawn grub killer. Always follow directions on the label.
