23.01.2022 Well, it was a closely run race but there was a clear winner! Were currently planning a variety of domestic and trans-Tasman escapes for you when we are once again allowed to travel. For its its time to start dreaming.... So in first place we have..... THE SOUTH ISLAND OF AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND!!! Well take you from Christchurch to Queenstown and visit the wineries and distilleries of the central Otago region. Youll go bike riding around stunning lakes, go kayaking on a fj...ord, and stargaze whilst floating around in heated pools. Youll have the opportunity to go sky diving, bungy jumping, jet boating, paddle boarding, zip lining or speed down the luge. Did we mention wineries??? 09.01.2022 Last night we met 50 of our cruise family at a gorgeous Welcome Reception held at Cobra Art Gallery and Haesje Claes restaurant. We experienced Amsterdams new ...and old - stunning modern art followed by dinner in a restaurant dating back to 1520! Thanks to all the staff who looked after us - particularly the amazing bar staff at the gallery who really ensured everyone was suitably, socially lubricated. 08.01.2022 AUSTRALIAN FIRES UPDATE: Thank you so much for all your thoughts and well wishes during this tragic situation. Unfortunately we dont have good news to report as the fires continue to ravage our country and there is no sign of relief in the immediate future. 23 people have died, 2500 homes have been lost, entire country towns have been wiped out, 15 MILLION acres of bushland and national parks have been destroyed and an estimated HALF A BILLION of our beautiful, precious ...wildlife have been killed - with some species facing extinction. There is so much heroic work being done by the RFS, the military and everyday community members. Whilst heart breaking to watch there have been heart warming stories of survival and of the incredible work being done by various charities who are supporting the front line. We have decided to support WIRES - a not for profit organisation who is working to rescue and rehabilitate our injured wildlife. There are so many horrific pictures circulating on the internet of injured animals that I will not post but please know what ever you can spare will go to help those who cannot help themselves. Our first priority will always be the safety and wellbeing of our guests. Weve notified each of our valued guests and either transferred their booking to 2021 or given a FULL REFUND. Were so happy to say well still be seeing most of them onboard in 2021. Were now calling for expressions of interest - (this is by no means a commitment), but it will see you and your friends receive the first option to join. Were limited to how many people we can take due to coach restrictions. Were still contracting hotels and suppliers but rest assured theyll be what youve com...e to expect from Hermes Holidays. Our hotels will be stunning and the amongst the best of whats available in the places were visiting. The restaurants/wineries/distilleries will be the ones youve seen featured in travel magazines and websites - well make this an experience to remember. Dates are to be finalised but were looking at doing Tasmania for 8 Days in the third week of October and New Zealand for 10 Days in the last week of November/first week of December.
