23.01.2022 Woodlands have World Earth Day every day. It is imbedded into our curriculum and centre values. The children and staff value every day the importance of caring,... conserving and future planning of our environment. We use solely recycled paper and collage materials in our centre for the childrens work. Due to our Ap Xplor, we are a completely paperless administration. We make our own paint from cornflour and food colouring therefor eliminating toxic acrylic paint from our waterways and drains. Most of our resources - childrens equipment and furniture, are made from sustainable wood. We clean and maintain our own centre encouraging in all children and staff the care and ownership of their environment. We are investigating the use of cloth nappies at the centre instead of disposable nappies. We plant and harvest our own herbs to use in our meals and are eagerly awaiting our first vegetable crop. There are so many things we do in the centre to create with our children a respect for the environment. Above all we run our centre with this image always in our minds - not only for the environment but also to explain the reason why we are all passionate about what we do with children. We admire those people who continue to plant trees knowing they may never enjoy their shade. See more
