23.01.2022 An inspirational quote to end the week, have a great weekend x

22.01.2022 Enjoying a weekend off relaxing with the kids. Its especially nice when theyre getting on

22.01.2022 Its important to begin cleaning your babys teeth as soon as they start coming through. When theyre still very young this can be done with a soft textured cloth after meals. As the they approach one you can also introduce a toothbrush. They will chew the brush more so than anything! But its useful to get them into a routine. Remember to offer your baby a sip of water after meals and snacks to wash food residue from their teeth. If you have any questions please feel free to phone us on ph. (07) 3252 1628.

22.01.2022 Scared of the dentist? You’re not alone. It’s much more common than you would think. It is not a usual thing to lie in a chair, with your mouth open, having one or two people hovering over you. Perhaps you’ve also had a bad experience in the past that is playing on your mind. So really, before any actual treatment has begun you’re probably already uncomfortable. When treatment begins real anxiety and panic can set in. So how do you overcome this anxiety? It’s not straightfor...ward and it will take a lot of courage on your part. The bravest step is walking through the door. You may want to bring a support person along with you and they are welcome to come into the treatment room with you. We will do our part to make you as comfortable as possible. Let us know how you’re feeling so we can provide you with the extra support you need. Our ceiling mounted TV can play relaxation music and we will help you to slow down your breathing so panic doesn’t set in. In cases where dental phobia is extreme we can suggest medications to make you more relaxed during your treatment. Then, once you’ve attended your first appointment, and as you attend appointments more regularly things will slowly get easier. Attending six monthly appointments has the added benefit of picking up issues with your mouth early so treatments do not become as lengthy or complex. Avoiding the Dentist can affect not only your mouth and teeth but also impact your overall health. Please do not put off a visit because of anxiety or embarrassment about how you may react. We are here to help.

20.01.2022 Too cute not to share...

19.01.2022 This is the view from our office this morning; the rain has certainly set in. It got me thinking about how important water is to all living things. Our bodies are around 60% water. Staying hydrated helps regulate our body temperature, keeps our skin, muscles and other organs healthy, spreads nutrients throughout our body and helps eliminate waste. Did you know water is also really important for your teeth and mouth?... Drinking water prevents having a dry mouth - after all saliva is mostly water and if you dont have enough water you wont make enough saliva. Dry mouth makes it difficult to swallow, chew and increases your risk of tooth decay. Drinking water also helps clean your mouth, it washes away the food residue that bacteria love to eat, reducing your chance of tooth decay. Luckily in Brisbane our water also contains the mineral fluoride that helps strengthen our tooth enamel. Best of all, water is calorie free

12.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to our wonderful Dental Assistant Laura this week. Laura came to Australia from Spain as a working holiday. She is a Dentist in Spain. We were so lucky to have her at our clinic. As a going away we celebrated by going out for Spanish Tapas with our kids and Laura’s very cute little dog Toby ... We will miss you Laura

11.01.2022 This cool customer never used to be so keen on seeing us... He has come a long way and we are very proud of him! So, how do you help your child become more comfortable with seeing a Dentist? We suggest you start them young! We recommend between 12 to 24 months, when their baby teeth start coming through. You can bring them in at any age if you have concerns, even as a baby.... Then bringing your child back regularly for preventative check ups and cleans is so important! It helps them to become familiar with the office, our Dentist and other staff. We aim to make visits unhurried and fun so your little one wants to come back! Regular visits also mean your child will be comfortable if other treatments are needed, and better yet usually prevent issues before they become a problem for your child. Because if getting a filling is an uneasy experience for an adult, imagine how a child may react.

11.01.2022 Enjoy your day and week ahead!

11.01.2022 Were making a start to answering your most common dental questions. Thanks for your feedback! So... What is the best toothbrush to use? Despite what you might think medium and hard bristled toothbrushes can actually damage teeth and gums; they will not help you get tough build up or stains off your teeth. Stick with a toothbrush with soft bristles - either manual or electric - and use gentle pressure when brushing.... Remember to replace your toothbrush every few months, sooner if the bristles are bent out of shape. Bowed bristles do not clean as well and can be a sign that you are applying too much pressure when brushing. Choose toothpaste with fluoride to help strengthen your teeth and if you have teeth that are sensitive to hot, cold, or both choose toothpaste for sensitive teeth.

11.01.2022 Friday fun Have a wonderful weekend!

10.01.2022 Yes you really do need to floss! Your toothbrush cannot get to between your teeth where the teeth touch, or just under the gums. Without flossing those areas get food stuck and become the breeding ground for bacteria. In the long term this leads to decay (rot) between the teeth. More on tooth decay another time...... So at the risk of saying something you may have heard many times before, you only need to floss the teeth you want to keep... Need help to learn to floss properly? Come and see us!

02.01.2022 Wanting to be friends with your Dentist? Probably not... Much in the same way our dog Astro was dubious about striking up a friendship with our eccentric hen, Tootie. But despite his reservations, Astro has become comfortable hanging out with Tootie. Now... Youre probably not ecstatic about receiving dental treatment. We get it. But we at least hope that you can feel comfortable with us.... As a small family business our relationship with you is as important as the excellent dental care you will receive. We want to change your mind about dentists being scary. Give hanging out with us a try
