21.01.2022 Great piece by the Irish Times - "Why is Greta Thunberg so triggering? Because of what she represents. In an age when democracy is under assault, she hints at the emergence of a new kind of power, a convergence of youth, popular protest and irrefutable science. And for her loudest detractors, she also represents something else: the sight of their impending obsolescence hurtling towards them."

20.01.2022 The post below is by a new friend I met last time I was up in Sydney... At a recent class on confidence I taught which was fairly balanced in terms of gender rep. I asked for a show of hands from the women in the room - 'As a young girl, how many of you were told that she is too loud ?' - Every woman in the room raised her hand. When I asked the same from the men, only one indicated he was told to quiet down... I wish for a world where we have thousands of powerful, exuberant, loud and thriving women take all the space they want!

12.01.2022 Interesting article by the Guardian exploring why "women are disproportionately represented to a rather startling degree among countries managing the crisis well". It is hard to make explain that generalization because complex factors are involved. One suggestion is that cultures that elected such leaders are more open to trusting their governments (and therefore participate/follow the call for collective action). IMHO, (and I hope not to be derided for 'mansplaining'), th...is crisis is a wakeup call for us to understand our interconnectedness. The most astounding 'feature' of the pandemic is that we need to practically wreck our own lives as we know it to save the lives of people we likely don't even know!
