24.01.2022 As many people were reporting. Farmers won’t give Aussies a job picking. This must change.

12.01.2022 The mouth of Tooan Tooan Creek is being opened up to make sure it is ready for the storm season. The sand naturally builds up at the mouth of the creek where it... can block the flow of stormwater and tides. To ensure that the creek is ready and will flow during the storm season, Council needs to remove the sand. The project is due to start today (Monday 23 November) and take up to three days, weather permitting. The sand will be stockpiled on land near the All Abilities Playground for a few days and will then be used at high priority beach nourishment locations or taken to Council’s stockpile area on Booral Road for use at a later date. Beach access walkways beside the creek may be closed while the earthmoving equipment is on the beach. We ask residents to be aware that the equipment is on the beach and that trucks will be moving between the creek mouth and the Seafront Oval extension. We urge residents to avoid the area if they can while the work is underway.

11.01.2022 Congratulations Annastacia. It looks certain that Labor will govern it its own right for the next 4 years. Labor has increased its majority in Maryborough with @Bruce Saunders receiving over 50% of the vote. Hervey Bay has @Adrian Tantari the Labor candidate leading as does Bundaberg. It should benefit our area immensely to have our sitting members part of the Government rather than in opposition. https://www.abc.net.au/news/elections/qld/2020/results
09.01.2022 PHOTOGRAPHER: Robyn Finlayson There is always a sense of excitement and anticipation leading up to a trip to Fraser Island - it never fails to move my spirit in... incredible ways I recently returned from 5 nights on the island, based at Orchid Beach. The experience was extraordinary, but nothing like I had imagined. We arrived to find extended areas off limits due to a fire which had started towards the Northern tip of the island some weeks prior. This restricted our movements considerably. There were days of drama, devastation and, as always, stunning beauty. These images reveal a little of each. I know that nature will regenerate - there’s already evidence of this, but I fear it will take more time than some imagine. I also understand that fire in itself can be necessary to initiate growth. I only hope that it doesn’t reach the magnificent rainforest areas, where I’m sure the tall trees and ferns have stood for many ages. I’m desperate to explore these areas again during my lifetime. The fire has now been burning for over 6 weeks. I realise that a lightning strike is capable of starting a fire, but knowing that this one originated from an illegal campfire . I have no words. #fraserisland #fraserislandfire See more
04.01.2022 Maryborough Sugar Mill will close. Approx 60 jobs will be lost. Sad news. The Mill has processed local sugar for ober a hundred years. The end of an era.
01.01.2022 Woo Hoo. Congratulations Adrian Tantari. Well deserved win and great that we have a local member in Government.
