15.01.2022 HELP MAKE A FAMILY'S WISHES COME TRUE 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone and many of us are looking forward to sharing the joy of Christmas Day and coming together with our families. But as we open gifts on Christmas morning, many Fraser Coast families living in crisis situations will wake without presents or even the most basic necessities. Here at the RSL, we want to bring some joy to those doing it tough by giving a gift from under our giving tree, which will... be collected and distributed to locals in needs by the Combined Churches of Hervey Bay. Whether it's a toy for a child, toiletries for those in need or a puzzle book for the elderly ... every donation big or small will make a difference. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all our patrons and guests who have donated a gift so far or bought a $5, $10 or $20 bauble to be proudly displayed on the tree. If you would like to donate, be sure to get your gifts into the club by December 18. All gifts must be new and left unwrapped or placed in a gift bag with the age group and appropriate gender marked on the tag. See more

07.01.2022 'TIS THE SEASON FOR GIVING The Hervey Bay RSL has supported the annual Carols by Candlelight, run by the Combined Churches of Hervey Bay, for the past eight years but unfortunately it has been cencelled this year due to Covid-safe guidelines. However, so we can still continue to support the combined churches and the wonderful charitable work they do, the beautiful Christmas tree in our reception area will act as a giving tree this year. Gifts donated to the RSL giving t...ree will be collected by the Combined Churches of Hervey Bay and distributed to needy Fraser Coast residents of all ages, by local relief agencies, church-based charities and, school aged care and prison chaplains. Organiser Julie Terry encourages the gift of giving under the tree for all ages including children, teenagers, men, women and the elderly. Some other ideas could be schools supplies or a knapsack, drink bottles, games, craft items or vouchers from local businesses. There will also be $5, $10 and $20 baubles for sale at reception. Locals can purchase a donation bauble and hang it on the tree. The funds collected from buying a bauble will go towards buying food, gifts and vouchers from local businesses or specific items that people need, Julie said. All gifts must be new and left unwrapped or placed in a gift bag with the age group and appropriate gender marked on the tag. Gifts can be placed under the giving tree until Friday, December 18.
