24.01.2022 Game changer technique!! If youve avoided knitting anything that requires steeking, youre going to be amazed!

24.01.2022 I'm sure every Club Secretary needs this sort of help to produce the Annual Report for their Club?!?! (which is what I am doing right now and clearly not vacuuming that carpet ) - thanks Jazz! Quick reminder that our AGM is this Saturday (15th) preceded by our regular General Meeting. Paid members, please attend to ensure we have our quorum. Unpaid members.... fees due by Saturday! New members always welcome.

23.01.2022 Incoming to our Member Shop! Lovely fibres for spinning and felting. One of the best member benefits is access to our little shop. New members always welcome!

23.01.2022 A message to our lovely Hervey Bay page followers...you may have noticed a new event posted today, for our next Beginners Felting Course. We'd love to fill all places in this course. Would you do us a favour please? Go to the event and hit the SHARE button - especially if you are a member of other groups (especially craft related ones). Thank you!

19.01.2022 Lucky Majacraft owners or soon-to-owners ......something for you.....

18.01.2022 For the love of each other.....keep your distance! We can remember to stay home if we are unwell. We can remember to use the hand sanitizer provider. We need to take personal responsibility to remember to keep our distance.

18.01.2022 How ingenious is the jacket Jane @textilebeat has created?

18.01.2022 Great event in Pomona this weekend for those interested in a more sustainable future.....and if you aren't, you should be!!!

17.01.2022 When did our group begin? The first meeting of the Hervey Bay Wool & Craft Guild was held on the 15th March 1983. Mrs Nancy (Nan) Stewart was the inaugural President and also held the position of Secretary. Photo is of the first minutes and newspaper article calling for members (you'll need to zoom in for the details).

17.01.2022 CAMPIALBA Your Committee and the Campialba Convenors have met and taken the difficult (but in ways easy) decision to CANCEL our 2020 Campialba. We are not willing to risk our mainly older age group to be exposed in this situation. In addition, we expect that our registrations will be severely affected anyway, which will make our camp unviable. If you have registered and paid, you will receive a full refund as soon as this can be arranged. We appreciate your understanding and... know you will be as disappointed as we are. Campialba is our major fundraiser and we are already discussing creative options to help fill the shortfall. Perhaps a little fun online?!?!?! Take care, stay well and CRAFT on through!!!

17.01.2022 We recently celebrated milestone birthdays for two of our group legends!! Joan and Stuart hold a special place in our group and are valued for their skills and for generously sharing their wisdom. Happy birthday to you both!

17.01.2022 Need some retreat time to make up for the lack of our own Campialba in 2020.....consider Gympie!

17.01.2022 Beautiful textile art in the wild (ie taken from the usual domestic intention/setting). The utilitarian can be art.

16.01.2022 It isn't just all fibre arts when one of your members is a vet nurse/ wildlife carer. Kate currently has close care of little Wesley the wallaby who lost his mum on the road. He's the best boy hanging around in his pouch while Kate spins and weaves. What a little cutie!!!

16.01.2022 Meet Deb (L) and Lesley (R) as they discuss these two very different examples of nuno felting. This technique is relatively simple and mastered with a little practice. Whilst Lesley considers herself a "novice", as you can see she had produced two lovely and very wearable shawls. Our members learn by sharing and have a lot of fun doing it! The second photo is a divine silk and wool nuno felted shawl crafted by one of our "master felters", Stuart. He was a bit busy to have his photo taken....off creating more magic.

13.01.2022 Please note...not just for our group but for everywhere we go. Future is in our clean hands....literally!

13.01.2022 Show and Tell this week had a lovely variety of items. Barb had made a light weight double cowl knitted from hand-spun Optim fibre (merino wool stretched to create a finer, silker fibre). Bernie showed off samples and a finished scarf from her learning and experimenting with weaving. I had a skein of yarn that I had blended recycled sari silk with merino, spun and then dyed the yarn with "Galah" (very loud pink!) and Di showed her lovely basket- weave patterned woven table runner. Always so much to learn through sharing.

13.01.2022 Our Tuesday night artists have been busy doing what they do best. Creating unique pieces. What do you think.Brilliant.

12.01.2022 What do you get if you mix water, warmth, soap and agitation with wool? FELT!!! Our Focus on Felt group recommences tomorrow night (Tuesday 28th July) 6.00 - 9.00pm. Fabulous Felters are BACK!!... If you would like to LEARN to felt we will have our very popular "Introduction to Felting" course beginning on the 1st September. More details and bookings will open soon - stay tuned!!

12.01.2022 Just for something completely different on a Saturday morning.....our wild and wacky Donna asked me to share this with you......heavy metal knitting anyone? https://www.facebook.com/ESPNUK/videos/921293518215398/

12.01.2022 We had not heard from our long-standing Patron, Daphne George for a little while - she keeps in contact with the support of her daughter. So this morning I phoned Raeleigh who was happy to reassure us that her Mum is "frail but fine". I subsequently received this photo and message from them: "I have attached a photo of my mum and daughter on Olivia's 21st, May 12. Olivia adores her and the feeling is mutual.... Best wishes from my mother to you and all the club members. She was delighted to know I had spoken to you. Please stay in touch" A very warm "cheerio" to Daphne and her lovely family from all of us at the Hervey Bay Spinners, Weavers & Fibre Artists.

06.01.2022 We recently ran a beginner's weaving course for members which continued as a collaborative interest group with the support of our experienced weaver Karen. Jenny W writes .... "Saturday afternoon weavers group, our samplers are finished now onto our table runner thanks to Karen for all her help!"

01.01.2022 We're back!!! With the easing of restrictions our lovely group came together again this morning. Our clubhouse has been given a thorough clean, clean out, tidy up and rearrange and looks great. The members had a relaxing, productive time catching up. Gatherings will continue as previously (with some altered procedures and of course social distancing) on Wednesday and Saturday mornings (Tuesday felting TBA).

01.01.2022 It's peak crafting time in the run up to the festive season! Here is our lovely Sika with a simply gorgeous Advent calendar she has made. Each crochet stocking is about 10cm high and will be stuffed with treats for some special little people. Lots of love in every stitch

01.01.2022 I'd like to introduce you to "our" Donna. Isn't she gorgeous???...and so is that felted wrap made with her talented hands!!!
