23.01.2022 Location: Downtown Las Vegas ... While downtown, doing a lifestyle shoot, we ventured over to the Plaza, near the long strip of lights over the sidewalk. We were able to get a few shots under there, before security asked us to leave, but just as we were leaving, we stopped at the curb, and I was able to capture this image of Yesenia, using the wall of the Plaza as a flat backdrop, and the ambient lighting from all the overhead bulbs. If you want to take a picture using a slow shutter speed, it is best to mount the camera on a tripod and to reduce the chance of any unwanted camera movement. 14.01.2022 Sunset at Red Rock Canyon. Called: Sun Star Friday. Thomas went out to Bonnie Springs on Friday, the 25th of September, which is a part of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, to catch sun stars. Arriving with plenty of time he loaded his camera onto my tripod and headed out into the desert. While waiting, Thomas heard an angry burro (small donkey) yapping away in the relatively near distance. It must have seen him, but Thomas didn't see it and it was NOT happy ... Kept an eye out as I've been chased off their land before. A Get Off My Lawn kind of thing. Thankfully, It never came and I was able to capture what I went for. 08.01.2022 Location: Historic San Carlos Hotel, Downtown Phoenix AZ Michael's daughter recently moved to Phoenix and wanted to explore downtown. She's a history buff with a special interest in mysteries, so we decided to stop by the historic San Carlos Hotel. Although his lived here since 2011, he'd never actually visited the San Carlos, so had no idea of it's rich or haunted history. ... The hotel manager graciously allowed them to move about at their own pace and even gave them access to a secret back room that once served as a speakeasy. The room looked virtually untouched from it's heyday. It was still beautiful with elaborate furnishings, original bar fixtures, wall decor, and intricately-carved wooden columns. But one thing kept pulling Michael's attention away a massive, black safe that looked as if it was standing guard in a corner. He couldn't help but wonder, like the hotel itself, what secrets where once locked away within that safe's walls. Something about that huge safe, peaking out from a dark corner, in a secret room, of a hotel with such a macabre past... It just seemed like there was something more to the story. Michael felt inspired to shoot the safe from that perspective, using lots of negative space to whisper the story. He just felt more in tune with the uneasiness he was feeling and all those unanswered questions. He likes to think I left a little for the viewer's imagination. 05.01.2022 Asif has been practicing Milky Way photography for several weeks. Asif is also the model in this self portrait image. He had to take multiple shots to get the position right.
