Focused, deep yet impressively clean and fresh, like alpine air, with sweetly perfumed aromas of cherry blossom, potpourri, macerated strawberry, brambley raspberry, jubey blackberry, dried cranberry and fairy floss. Light, very clean and delicate with orange blossom, jasmine, a spritz of lemonade, white peach, pear, sweet green peas and japanese strawberry gums. - 9.5/10 for Taste What does it taste like? Deliciously fresh, balanced and clean with vibrant flavours of sharp strawberry, lemon/lime, mangosteen, pink grapefruit, peaches and cream, apricot and a breath of lychee gums. 09.01.2022 We are tickled pink with this shout out #repost @wineworthwritingabout Our next stop was the humble and family run @hesketestate where we met with the beautifully charming and hardworking duo Elizabeth and Alex, who have lived on the Estate for decades. It is their home and also their business, which throws some interesting dynamics into the mix. Being a small family business in the Macedon Ranges of Victoria presents some problems of exposure and anonymity, leaving things t...o chance for people outside the know to stumble upon. So the duo have spent a lot of time building and broadening the offering from the property as a means to get people there. They now offer accommodation, have built an event space, rotate with chefs doing collaboration lunches, have a cellar door with food offerings, an online store and host local get togethers when they can, all the while running a winery and all that comes with it. It's a big, endless job!! Luckily, the wines are very good, so i'm sure those that come by the property make it worth while in sales. Dougy makes the 2 Pinot Noir from the Hesket Estate, the Jinjella and the Estate, which are great wines punching way above their price point. We tasted a vertical from 2016 through to 2020 to follow the progression and development of the wines over the years, which was very noticeable, and shows how important the influence of a wine maker can be for greatness of a wine. The 18 and 19 Estate Pinot Noir have hit home runs and are well worth checking out for those that enjoy cooler climate, fruit driven and floral Pinots. Delicious. Next stop is the Mornington Peninsula
