23.01.2022 Picking the right Personal Trainer for you: 1. Think/Write down what values/characteristics/coaching style are important to you (Would you like them to have a laugh vs would you prefer them to be serious, would you like them to be involved or check in/check out of the gym etc) 2. Train on the gym floor and have a sticky beak around. Have a look at how the PT's are interacting with their clients. Window shopping in my opinion is one of the best ways to suss out PT's (are the...y professional, are they on their phones, are they engaging, are they packing weights away etc) 3. Cheeky stalk on their professional social media. Do you agree with their message? Do you enjoy they content? Or do they come across like a complete gym wanker 4. Do you feel comfortable talking/engaging with them? This may seem like common sense, but it's one of the more important points (should've put it higher on this list but I'm already mid way typing and on a roll). Being comfortable with your PT is HUGE. Not to be tacky.. but you are going on a journey together, you'll be sharing personal goals and potentially insight into insecurities, previous success and failures. That's vulnerable AF, you want someone who can listen, support and help you feel comfortable in the uncomfortable. 5. Qualifications, IMO - this isn't too important. Don't get me wrong, of course you want a PT that is great at what they do and current with the recent studies. However experience and focus on continuing education is one of the more important factors compared to, did they go to Uni or not? Find a PT that is set on their field (fat loss, athletes, power lifting, senior training, injury rehabilitation) and a PT that can admit that they don't know everything and don't know all the answers. The better the PT is the more they are willing to admit they don't have all the answers/know everything - BUT are willing to find the answers and educate themselves on it. Swipe right when you find a PT that suits you, you feel comfortable with and aligns with your values. Super like even. (iykyk) #Datingfordummies

12.01.2022 I got it terribly wrong today Today I had my run planned, however I woke up feeling absolutely exhausted and reallllly didn't want to run at all. In my head I thought "this will make for a good post, getting things done even when you don't want to" ... Rookie ... I went for my run and only got through 15 minutes before I had to stop as I felt faint and nauseous ... In the last 4 weeks I've: - moved apartments - moved to Sydney - celebrated Christmas/New Year - changed my business to accommodate a completely new career/routine - increased my strength training .... OF COURSE I'M FRIED. Stick a fork in me. The lesson here: LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Please. Good lord. It's something I'm continuing to learn and trying to get better at myself. Your goals and progress won't disappear because you've taken a day off to recover and recharge. Taking a day will allow you to recover so you can go harder/stronger in your next session. It'll also encourage a sustainable routine, you can't be going full throttle 24/7. Your training needs to allow for big phases and also deload weeks (lighter/restful weeks) - by doing this you'll avoid burn out and actually enjoy the process So, be better than me this weekend. Listen to your bodies and train accordingly. #amatuerhour #clowntime

11.01.2022 TIPS FOR FAT LOSS: 1Protein at every meal 2Adequate sleep (6.5-8hrs) 3Focus on NEAT... (Maintaining an active lifestyle can burn a significant higher number of calories than your average gym workout. Movement outside the gym needs just as much focus (if not more) than your workouts) 4Resistance Training Harder isn't better, better is better. Keep it simple, be consistent, enjoy what you do. Fat loss is quite simple - though simple doesn't mean easy. It requires consistent behaviours and effort. (Not extreme behaviours, simple efforts of keeping up your NEAT and sleeping well consistently will have a huge positive impact on your well being and fat loss goals. #betterisbetter

02.01.2022 BYE FELICIA (But never forever) I'm off starting my dream of becoming a firefighter with full time training commencing at the end of January. It's incredibly bittersweet. This week I wind up at Central Coast Leagues Fitness which has been home for a few years. I have never been a part of a gym with such a warm, welcoming and fun environment from both the members and staff. I feel so lucky to have been able to work in an incredible community and culture.... Mostly though, I'm so thankful and grateful for the lifelong friendships I've made. This isn't goodbye - I'm really excited to commence this next chapter as it'll open more time for me to create more content, read more, learn more, share more and level up as a PT to go absolutely HAM with real strength and fat loss facts/content. Until I see you again, from the bottom of my heart - Thank you. Stay safe, have fun, slay - Amy x
