14.01.2022 So Heusden Hammocks has some sad news. Last night, when I did my usual time with my mice, I noticed Lefty was looking very sick. She had not been showing symptoms of illness before that so it came as a shock. As many of you know, rodents won't always show signs of illness until it is too late. I knew she wouldn't make it through the night. ... I gave her some pain relief (meloxicam). I found her passed away in the cage this morning. Unfortunately, it doesn't end there. Righty, who was battling respiratory infections her entire life and who was on palliative care passed away very close to Lefty too. I was not expecting Righty to pass away as she was still eating and drinking that night and I thought she still had a week or so left in her. I can only imagine that perhaps the stress of Lefty's death was too much for her, and so she passed away with her. These two were both super precious and the Heusden Hammocks household will miss them dearly. RIP babies xxx Love you lots x
