25.01.2022 Black thunder! Going from extreme white oxide concrete out the back, to extreme black concrete out the front. Staurday saw Hewcrete complete this customers front yard with a double driveway and frontal pathing all using @premix_concrete black thunder exposed mix. Saturated black oxide concrete with a perfect mix of black and brown stone.... Wash and saw cuts to come before letting this one cure and slapping a double coat sealer to hold that amazing colour. 24.01.2022 Kicking off Monday with a nice 135m2 combined shed floor, surrounding paths and driveway apron. All quarry rubble base solidly prepped by Alan from jones earthmoving, before we moved in with steel preparation using SlL82 mesh reinforcing and N12 crack bars around all shed post. It was a 10 hour day in Adelaides 31 degree spring heat, but with the right crew onboard, Hewcrete was very happy with the result, and so was the owner with this 32mpa burnt to reflection! We head bac...k to saw cut bringing along our high pressure washer to clean up anything that was maybe missed.... 19.01.2022 Finally getting on some good weather and completing the last pour at Lewiston. A 115m2 roundabout addition to complete the 220m2 driveway. All done in @premix_concrete carbon, fine non slip finish with added sawcuts to come. It was a bit of a late pour then Hewcrete usually likes today, but a big shout out to the boys who stuck around and helped get it done. A granite coloured Avista tint seal to come once the concrete has had the right curing time.... 17.01.2022 Making use of some sunshine, with some nice standard grey pathing plus deadside, around this house extension. Seeing the week done at Hewcrete. Sourcing white ant barrier, and water proofing house footings, we were able to bring the these paths height 25mm under brick course. Hewcrete also gave the owner the option to use a channel and grate drain stormwater system on the deadside, which allows a clean flat path without valleys. 16.01.2022 Another solid week of weather has seen more progress plot along at the housing trust units, with ending the week with a solid 55m2 pour. Again following guidelines, we kept all entries step-less, and all ramping as subtle as possible. With making doorways meet lower carports and allowing no water build up or puddling, it was a tricky pour, but nothing Hewcrete couldnt handle. We head into next week with 5 pours in 5 days, but having Hewcretes good friends and head honchos fr...om Adelaide suburban concrete and Fedele & co constructions, only the weather can stop us! 11.01.2022 The next addition to the Pirralillia estate up in Aldgate South Australia. Driveway leading up to the garage from last week, with a 3 car spacing hard stand blended in to match the natural slope. 150m2 in total, all done with a 32mpa grey fine durable finish, with saw cuts to suit. The owner was very happy with the way Hewcrete found natural blending with the quite large falls in a small area, allowing cars too drive freely back and fourth without the old sssssscrape sound. A double oxide per cubic metre - platinum polish mix supplied by @premix_concrete saw Hewcretes huge weekend of prep come to a nice little end, with a successful pour today. 08.01.2022 Today Hewcrete went back to seal this beauty we poured 28 days ago. A extra saturated black oxide Thunder exposed mix by @premix_concrete It was hard to get some solid shots as the shine from the sealer didnt mix well with my camera, but from a far, you can see what a triple layer Avista Extended Wear sealer can do when the customer is happy to wait the proper curing time. Pictures dont do this one justice and by far, this mix has been the best Hewcrete has seen brought ba...ck to life. Just goes to show the effort and quality the boys down the batch plant put in, to keep producing these solid mixes. And especially one with a solid 40-45 degree slope, but today the boys dug deep and as unforgiving as exposed aggregate will be on such a great falling area, Hewcrete was very impressed in the end with the way the job washed out. 07.01.2022 Our books are full for 2020! Today we penciled in our last job for 2020, with pencilling in some new builds, plus making sure we get back to all our past jobs to finish off the sealing and final touches. It’s a good feeling from a company that kicked off only 1 year ago to have been booked out for the last few past month, months to come and with a lot secured for the new year. It’s a gruelling, unforgiving trade that only my fellow concreters would understand.... We work day by day with a perishable product governed constantly by weather, man power and supply bookings, so too see it all come together on the days that it does, well it’s a sense of pride I feel you couldn’t get from another trade. Thankyou to all friends, family members, mates in the industry and every loyal customer that Hewcrete has had the pleasure of doing work for so far, you guys have taken me from Callington to Lewiston, gawler to aldinga and have helped set the foundation of what I hope will be prosperous future, always doing the best I can, to leave behind quality work.... well until my back let’s me! 05.01.2022 Its been a week of sun, soil, compaction and concrete at Hewcrete! Spending 4 days prepping over 370m2 of base stretching across 3 units, getting a nice 50m2 pour in to see the week out. Being subject to housing trust guidelines, we had to make sure we had step less entries, all whilst staying under set flood gullies, limited stormwater drainage and making all falls and ramps as subtle as possible, to allow wheelchair access if needed. Huge shout out to Alan Jones from Jones... Earth Moving, who put in some big days. Bringing in near 60 tonne of rubble and working with me through all the crazy falls and levels, with patience and a perfect eye! 04.01.2022 Hewcrete finding a gap in our horrible winter, to return to Aldinga, and seal this monster 110m2 driveway and front path we poured a while back. 32mpa @premix_concrete envy exposed mix. With over a meter height difference from garage door to street level, this was a battle to get right! But with the right team and effort, Hewcrete was very happy with the end result. Big thanks to the customer for their patience in keeping their vehicles off this driveway and waiting the acqui...red curing time to get a extended wear sealer on this. 03.01.2022 ANY CONCRETER CAN MAKE CONCRETE LOOK PRETTY!. But the structural integrity starts of with solid base preparation, and today we did just that. 20 tonne later we turned this messy shed floor and perimeter paths in to a solid ground ready for steel reinforcement and concrete! A huge shoutout to Alan from Jones earthmoving, that made a very tight access job look easy with a combination of earthmoving machines and a strong knowledge of how to use them! Smashed it.... As we try to advise all customers at Hewcrete, it may cost you a bit more having a compacted base, but what you’ll get from it you’ll see in years and years to come.
