They have the freedom to forage the land yet be protected from the elements of weather and predators. Western Plains Pork have recently integrated the use of new technology to improve feeding. Introducing the ‘Electronic Ad Lib Feeding Station’. These stations are located in the lactation paddocks, allowing sows the right amount of feed to raise strong piglets. They are monitored remotely; consumption rates are recorded and may be modified on the go. Any sow that is not eating raises an alarm, ensuring that her welfare is checked on.
