23.01.2022 It’s electric blanket season but don’t forget to turn them off! Lucky for this elderly gentlemen he had shut his bedroom door and the fire was contained to ...the mattress and his house only received smoke damage. Remember to switch on your electric blanket half an hour before going to bed, and once your in there - turn it off!

19.01.2022 Many people use Winter and Spring to clean up their properties ready for Summer, when you do please be mindful of a few things to allow our trucks to access your property in the off chance there is a fire

18.01.2022 Winter is the most dangerous time for house fires. Heating, cooking and electrical are the most common causes of house fires at this time of year. For tips on how to keep you and your family fire safe this winter visit www.fire.tas.gov.au and follow our page for video tips.

18.01.2022 It definitely says that in the dictionary

TFS firefighters use real cars for road crash rescue trai...ning exercises to ensure our scenarios are as close to real-life as possible. 15.01.2022 May 4th is International Firefighters Day & also the feast day of St Florian, the Patron Saint of Firefighters. St Florian was the first known Commande...r of one Firefighting squad in the Roman Empire. He lost his life, as well as those of his colleagues, for protecting the same humane ideas which Firefighters all over the world share even today. Happy International Firefighters Day & to Firefighters everywhere stay safe! Pete Learmonth

11.01.2022 It’s National Volunteer Week the perfect opportunity to say thank you to those who volunteer their time for the good of their community. 10.01.2022 At TFS, we share many values and common ideals with our servicemen and women. Today at dawn we paused to remember all those who have served our nation. Like ...many other Australians I have a personal connection to the ANZACs as my grandfather was one of the Aussie diggers who landed on ANZAC Cove in 1915, said TFS Chief Officer Chris Arnol. I always think of him at our dawn services. Lest We Forget.

10.01.2022 This is why we never put water on hot oil or fat.

09.01.2022 All BBQ cooking appliances must be used outside in a well ventilated area!

09.01.2022 A big thank you to all First Responders for putting your life on the line to protect and care for your communities! Don’t forget to #ThankAFirstResponder today!

09.01.2022 Do you use a wheat bag? Hobart Fire Brigade attended an incident last night where a wheat bag caught fire in a microwave. Fortunately on this occassion the dam...age from the fire was limited to the microwave. However, there have been instances in Tasmania where wheat bags have caused house fires and a death. Tips for using wheat bags: only use in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions don't overheat in the microwave dispose of them when they get old and the contents dry out don't use them to warm bedding - use a hot water bottle instead More information is available here: http://www.fire.tas.gov.au//200053-TFS-Wheat-filled-hea-pa
