25.01.2022 The 2nds ventured to Rosedale for the final fixtured 1 day match. Rosedale won the toss and elected to bat. Slow going on a slow outfield and wickets were hard to come by, a bit of a lacklustre effort in the field, luckily there was some tight bowling. Rosedale managed 5/125 off their 40, Peter Berryman 2/21 off 7 the only multiple wicket taker. Small chases can be made tricky and this one was slipping to 4/38 on the same pitch which was hard to take wickets on, we were saved... by Macauley Lawrenson 66 and Dev De silva 31 who put on close to 70 to get us within reach before Ash Vogt put the bad balls to and over the fence for 26 to get us over the line. We finished 7/172 to maintain our 6 point lead in 2nd. The 4ths ventured to Stephenson park to play Longford. Captain Todd won the toss and batted, a solid start from Greg Tomamichel 27 and Scott Donahoe 20, a bit of a wobble from 1/47 to 5/76 before Kodie Woodland 40, Lyndon Smith 27 and Ronnie Winter 50no pushed the score along, still though, unable to bat the 40, all out for 218 in the 37th over. Luckily it was more than enough, Longford never got going, 3/10 off 10, all out for 64 in 32. Kodie Woodland the king of toil 4/3 off 5 including 2 no balls, Bailey Smith 1/4 off 6 incl 5 maidens, Brento Hewish a miserly 9 off his 6 overs, Tyson Birss with 2/8 off 4 and Dyl Patmore 1/13. Another great win for the 4ths The 5ths hosted the undefeated RK at home with RK winning the toss and batting. A solid effort to restrict RK to 5/137 off their 40, Jordy Pearson and Shane Pedley both tight with 1/19 off their 8, Bumpy 2/22 off his 8 and Brendan Mason 1/33. At 2/43 the game was in the balance before the Butcher brothers both got 30s and Glen Synnott got 36no, this time he only needed half the overs as we knocked them off posting 4/150. A great win defeating a side which hadnt lost a game to this point, and cements the 5ths in 3rd spot. Things going great with all sides on track for finals, once again training and subs become important in selection. A couple of functions booked in, Corey and Johnsy hosting a night on the 10th of Feb when the Aus v Eng T20 with activities planned. The $1000 draw locked in for the 3rd of March which is the last Saturday of the home and away season, should be plenty around as we head into finals, tickets available soon See more

23.01.2022 All senior cricket has now been cancelled for today

22.01.2022 Cricket finally returned after the xmas break with the 2nds and 4ths hosting Sale and Bundy respectively while the 5ths ventured to Stead street to play Sale. The 2nds finally back at home lost the toss and were asked to bat. Not an ideal start being 1/2 but care was taken not to lose wickets in bunches, 3/81 at drinks on the way to posting a competitive score, a steady build with a few more wickets falling before Brendon Ronan 36no and Peter Berryman 19no took 40 off the las...Continue reading

19.01.2022 The 2nds travelled to College for a 1 day game. College won the toss and elected to bat first. College hit the ground running getting past 20 inside 5 overs before Kettles Mcinnes struck twice to remove both openers and get us up and about. Wickets fell pretty regularly with a few chances going begging. We manage to bowl college out for 130 off the last ball of the innings. Mac the pick of the bowlers with 3/15 off his 8, Kettles 3/21 and singles to Brendon Ronan and Bog. A s...teady start with the bat with 2 wickets falling before the halfway mark. Mac and Birssy took the score from 56 to within 4 of victory with 7 overs left. Mac a solid 36, Birssy as he does hit 58 in his first dig and we managed 6/147 to make it 2 wins in a row plus the draw from a washout. 21 to Ferg at the top. Another win going into xmas will put us within reach of the top 2 The 4ths sitting on top of the ladder managed another win with ease, they didnt even take the field as Wurruk forfeited. Disappointing for those who plan their Saturdays around playing cricket but 6 points nonetheless The 5ths took on Stratford on the turf at Heyfield. Butch won the toss and chose to bat. Sinno 19, Mark Thomas 50no, Mace 39 and Butch 34no saw them compile a healthy 4/157. Butch thought it would have been plenty on the massive ground that is Heyfield turf, well, compared to some of the astro grounds they usually play on. He was right as they choked Stratford for 69 in 35 overs. Some excellent bowling from Vicles Higgins 1/4 off 6, Jordy Knight 2/13 off 6 and Mace 3/15 off 5(bowled a Gatting ball apparently) and singles to Shane Pedley, Bumpy and Tyson Birss in his first senior game. A great team victory which sees the 5ths equal 2nd on points on the ladder. The 16s were competitve against the mighty Bundy u/16s, but went down. Tiger Chessum 22 and Jordy Knight 3/5 the standouts. The u/14s got up in their 4th game decided by 2 runs or less defeating College blue by 2 runs. Tyson Birss 22no, Oakley Pearson 20no the standouts with the bat, Viclee Higgins the best with the ball 1/4 off 3 Our xmas breakup is this weekend after cricket with food from Maffra Spit roast and a possible visit from a big guy in a red suit, all club members and families invited, please get in touch with Gael or Greg if youre coming Lastly were organising a club 6s day on Saturday the 23rd to raise some cash for our Big Bash bus trip, if youre around and keen for a hit get along on the day or get in touch with Butch See more

17.01.2022 The 2nds ventured to Bundy in a must win game to stay in touch going into the break. We won the toss and batted. A solid start with the first wicket falling in the 13th over with 61 on the board, Keane out for 45. We lost 3 for 11 before Birssy and Johnsy got us back on track and a target of 200+ was on the cards before another run of wickets as we lost 5/41, Birssy whacking 57 before Petrol 22* and Boggy 20 got us over the 200 mark as we finished 9/204 off our 40.
