24.01.2022 The relaxing Boodeere National Park, our main stop, hosts many beaches with different orientations and configurations (and different level of waves, that allow options for surf or for snorkeling). Depending on the time and the place, it's easy to see some kangaroos (really not afraid of humans), coloured parrots, possums or wallabies A little bit more North, Hyams Beach is a good place for who like paradisiac beaches: crystal clear water and with sand (the withest in the wor...ld). On the way, we stopped at the Nan Tien Temple, near Wollongong: a massive (and hidden) Buddhist temple, in which it looks quite interesting to spend with day, just to think about the world But the best stop had been Kiama. The small city, about half way, hide a geological curiosity: two blowholes that work like geysers as soon as the waves fill up the cavity right under them. Just need few good waves, with a South-East swell, and you will see the water spraying more than 15m out! Always impressive, the power of the ocean Few steps aside, there’s some picnic tables in front of the sea (on which a little fish n chips is always appreciated) and an oceanic pool (AGAIN, yes) to swim protected from the waves, just nice. And a bit further, we found some really good spots for snorkeling, where we could see (and caught) lobsters!! :p See you next time! See more

09.01.2022 After picking up a couple of French people in the adventure, let’s head up to our departure point: Geelong. Small and quiet town, with hundreds of bollards, a good fish n chips and especially a really nice kebab. Then, the road started Bells Beach (Torquay), just because the movie Point Break stated that it was the best beach in the world for surfing :) On site, nearly no waves but a nice view and a dark sand creating nice drawings with the yellow sand. Lorne, to see how... warm was the sand and how fresh was the water! From there, we changed our direction and drove to the campsite, through the nice Victorian countryside and a dense forest. Arrived, let’s light the firewood barbecue and eat before falling asleep, rocked by hundreds of birds singing. Great Otway National Park, second day Apollo Bay, and a high lookout over the ocean. Just after the city, the Great Ocean Road move away from the ocean (!) and enter in a forest in which we saw many koalas!... Mostly asleep but all super cute. Johanna beach And the Twelve Apostles. Massive rocks that decided to resist against the water, more than the high cliffs surroundings Gibson Steps, from where we can go down to the beach and stare at the cliffs and at two Apostles from the bottom: majestic! And then, half an hour walk on a promontory with an amazing view over all the rocks and the coastline: with the warm sun that we had, and despite of the crowd and the flies, the views are really breathtaking!!! Two more stops in the same area (London Arch and El Grotto, both pretty) and then we drove till the campsite in Timboon: very nice, colourful sunset, pear cider in the lounge, walk under the stars The day after, breakfast and back to Melbourne. With a short stop at Red Rock Lookout on the way, which allowed us to enjoy the view over the old volcanic plains (whose craters are still very visible on the topography) In summary, a great (haha) experience! You should come :) See more
