24.01.2022 ART as OFFERING Many traditions throughout the ages include a practice of leaving offerings when taking from or asking something of Nature/spirit Leaving tobacco or flowers when harvesting herbs, or food and wine for ancestors or house spirits - something to symbolise our respect, a small sacrifice to reciprocate an honourable relationship As a forager and collector of natural treasures, this practice is something I love and try to do more of, as it slows down and bring...s more consciousness to the act, allows you to consider the value of what you give and receive, and offers Nature a moment to respond Finding offerings with enough weight to feel genuine, that you are willing to let go of, and won’t disturb the environment you leave them in is part of the trick. Which is where the practice of offering your Art can come in... Art is creative energy manifest, an offering of the highest order, and when that art is made from natural materials, it leaves no trace other than ephemeral magic. Here is the Wild Magic symbol painted in clay on a rock in our garden. An offering I leave for the land we reside on, for the beings we share it with, and as a reminder for us to connect. I love that the paint will wash off after rain, as the elements send the spell into the earth, and invite me to maintain the relationship. Wild Magic is a concept I’ll elaborate on more in time, but in essence this symbol represents innate, natural, untamed magic. We all have our own Magic but many of us have been cultured out of it, and some magical traditions make it seem unnecessarily esoteric. I offer this symbol to anyone who wishes to bring more of this Wild magic into their lives. I insist it’s accessible to all of us, and you can make up your own, but if you’re stuck there i invite you to draw it in the dirt, or on paper and burn it, or paint it with clay on your body...or whatever you feel inspired to do, then trust in your magical self. I’m uncovering my own Wild Magic and what it is I can offer, I’m hatching a few exciting ideas atm and hope you enjoy the spontaneous magical musings!

23.01.2022 BESOM BROOMS for HALLOWEEN? Well, not quite... It’s Spring here in the Southern Hemisphere, and despite the growing Halloween hype we adopt from the north, our days are actually getting brighter, life forces are rising, and fertility is in the air The Earth is rousing from her slumber, the growing season upon us, and nature’s bounty begins to overflow. It’s been a source of discomfort for me, to celebrate Halloween/Samhain in October, when Beltane (bright-fi...re) festivities truly honour the cycles and energies at this time. It’s just another manifestation of how out tune our culture has become, and the influence of commercialism on our activities. I don’t wish to dwell on my discomforts though - and I believe in embracing the positives in every situation and let’s face it, Halloween is fun!! Although I’m sure the sweets incite some of the Halloween excitement we all share, I also feel there’s a pent up desire in our culture to embrace the dark, mysterious, shadow side of life which barely gets a look in, compared to many other cultures, and I’m all-for embracing and releasing our dark! So at least there’s an outlet at some time for this, even if the ritual is mostly unconscious, there’s a healthy catharsis underneath it all. Samhain and Beltane do share a thinning of the veil effect, they are space between spaces, twilight zones And much like the liminal moments just before and after we sleep, these are potent moments for dreaming, feeling, connecting beyond the material world So...we’ve been making Besom brooms recently, because it’s Spring! - the grass is dry for harvest, and it’s a good time to spring-clean! And while we do have halloween fun with friends and community at this time of year (no one likes a party-pooper!), we do so amongst our own Beltane acknowledgments. And while I do love seeing us all dress like it’s Day of the Dead, I’m also all-for a mass scale Southern Hemisphere festivities revival; a reclamation of our natural rites, an honouring of our own time in space, a reconnecting with Natural cycles and our wildest parties! 18.01.2022 Tuning into Tarot I purchased tuning forks years ago when exploring a sound healing modality called Biofield Tuning, I have however used them much more frequently in some very simple ways, and they’ve become a favourite tool in my ‘magic bag of tricks’ For tuning into tarot cards before reading, i will use the fork first on my sternum (which resonates the whole chest cavity) while I hold my query in mind, helping to drop into a peaceful state and perhaps have my query reson...ate at that specific frequency. I then strike the fork again and place it on the deck, with the intention to clear and tune it to that frequency. I have very good results this way. I also use them in clearing or scraping techniques (basically smoke-less smudging) working around the whole body in a downward motion. I will sometimes feel a tingle or sensation in a certain area of my body when I pass over it, which suggests to me to give a little more attention to that area. This is somewhat similar to the Biofield Tuning technique developed by @eileenmckusick but her very inspiring and scientifically-sound work goes far deeper - highly recommended her work if you want to look into this field further! #magic #tarot #tarotcards #tuningforks #biofieldtuning #ritual
