25.01.2022 March is the season of autumn and the children made these using their elbow to wrist to create the trunk of the tree. We used wooden different shaped leaves dipped in paint to complete the trees.
24.01.2022 This story is narrated by Kasper and his love of nature, bush kindy and bush foods. We discussed today about reconciliation week and after having shown Kasper the piece of material and explaining to him about creating his own artwork this is what he said! Kasper says to meI would like to paint the Kakadu plum tree on the material. We then looked at a photo of the tree and Kasper chose the colours. He said to me I will do a blue sky first with lots of colours in it Then I ...will use black to paint the trunk. Now I am taking the green for the leaves and putting the leaves on the branches I will put some purple plums on the tree. Kasper stopped and reflected going to my aboriginal corner for inspiration. He sat at the table and saidI want to paint a brown rock with a bit of green on it Since there was no brown, I advised him as to how to get the colour brown by mixing red and green. See more

23.01.2022 The children were creating a road and a bus lane with brushed LEGO. I handed them the road signs which the children used for their construction work. One sign was placed by the girl which said Buses only. There were many other signs to which I told them what it was for.
23.01.2022 Book week at Carmen’s Family Day Care. We had a wonderful day reading stories on I wonder why? The children then learned about the great outdoors and then played nature bingo.
21.01.2022 Let’s get physical! Children enjoyed the outdoors on the roller coaster, stepping stones, playdough with almond essence, leaves, shells and cutters and the blackboards made with guava branches. After singing songs, we went on a nature walk to look at the Jak fruits and the new bunches of banana. We laughed, played, sang songs then washed up for lunch. Many memories are made in Carmen’s Family Day Care.
21.01.2022 Today there was spontaneous play when the four boys began talking about dinosaurs. Kasper said to the others We can make a dinosaur train with the train set, dinosaurs, trees, signs, trains and the dinosaurs from the dinosaur train movie. There was much interest shown when each boy went to the baskets that had all the resources to create this wonder. There strengths were to join the train tracks, put the signs, trees and people. The challenge was to make sure the large dinosaurs were ready on the platform to board the train. We then began singing the dinosaur train song while the boys moved the dinosaurs to board the train. It was a very enjoyable morning and given the opportunities and the possibilities, children can use their own thoughts and patterns to create a Learning journey

19.01.2022 Shrove Tuesday! The children showed an interest when I laid out an invitation to make pancakes. I placed a packet of buckwheat flour, almond milk, freshly squeezed orange juice, butter, honey and blueberries. I brought the mixing bowl and the children added the ingredients to the bowl. Kasper began stirring it and then we made sure the mixture was right for the pancake.... I had the penguin waffle maker out so we decided to make waffles instead. When all the waffles were ready, the children sat at the table. I arranged two waffles on each plate with butter, Bush honey and blueberries. The children enjoyed their afternoon tea talking about penguins and laughing. We sang the penguin song after we ate and then I packed their bags for home time. See more

18.01.2022 Today we acted out the story of the Wombat stew that the dingo wanted to make. The Platypus. Emu, Echidna, blue tongue lizard and Koala gave Dingo the idea to add different ingredients. The ingredients were blobs of mud, feathers flies, creepy crawlers. gumnuts into the stew. They all asked dingo to taste the stew and he took a great big slurp of stew. 12.01.2022 The children were participating in a cookery lesson. Much interest was shown when I told them that we are going to make Sri Lankan coconut roti with atta flour. The interest escalated to a strength of mixing the ingredients. Then a challenge of cooking them one by one in a tortilla press. I put a roti on each of their plates with butter and Manuka honey. The children’s needs were of using their fine motor skills to eat them. They enjoyed one each and then wanted another one. ...My little autistic boy looked at me and said Yummy then he smiled and said to me Pizza finished Carmen (So satisfying to hear these comments) We then washed our hands and began to play games. 09.01.2022 This is my genuine Aboriginal eco new mat art designed by Sherren Gross. She is an indigenous lady of the Nunukul, Nughie and Gorenpul people from Minjerriba North Stradbroke Island in Quandamooka, Moreton Bay off the Queensland coast of Australia This is her culture and heritage when turtles moved from the land to the sea. Follow up with the children tomorrow and Wednesday with a story about the Turtles journey also the given name for this awesome mat.
08.01.2022 The children are waiting for the Scheme to present Santa and the sugar glideron zoom. We watched it and the sugar glider was an owl. The children enjoyed the story and actions and then went on to built a Christmas tree with the wooden blocks .
07.01.2022 The start of autumn! The children will be making autumn trees this week The trunk is the child’s hand from elbow to wrist. The leaves are wooden leaves which were painted and then placed on paper. Children loved it! Tomorrow and Thursday, the children will each make their own autumn trees.

06.01.2022 My Obstacle Course Narrated by Kasper! I took the wooden blocks as I wanted to build an obstacle course for the Around the world wooden people that Carmen had in our Day Care. The blocks were different shapes of squares, circles, rectangles and cylinders.... I began building with the blocks, 4 ramps, stepping stones and a little pyramid. I took the wooden people and placed some of them on top of the ramps. I then named one wooden person Jim and sent him down the ramp. I named the second wooden person Sarah and sent her down the ramp. I told Jim and Sarah to run to the start and then to walk down to the pyramid. Kasper then says to me We can do an actual obstacle course on the grass next week. What a wonderful narration with a very vivid imagination So wonderful to see these stories develop from the children through play based learning.

01.01.2022 We set out to follow the turtles journey from the land to the sea! The children were interested to create step by step the journey of the turtle. They laid out a yellow sheet to represent the sand on the beach. Kasper then made a circle with wooden blocks and said to us This circle is for the eggs the turtle will lay. Kasper and Annika, then placed wooden eggs one by one into the circle.... I handed them a wooden turtle and said to themPlace the turtle over the eggs to show that stage of a turtle’s life. Kasper and Annika brought over the aboriginal story blocks and laid them in a line on the yellow sheet. They took the rainbow snake and placed it on the pretend sand. This they followed up with the mammals being put into the sea. After which they placed shells into the sand and sea Kasper said to Annika We will now move the turtle slowly into the sea? Annika said to Kasper, First we have to put the baby turtles over the eggs to show that they have hatched. Finally we concluded this activity was coming to an end when we made paper plate turtles.
