23.01.2022 FLORA VALLEY STATION The team at Flora Valley have been busy completing first round. Aaron and Cassie at our Nicholson Outstation have also completed first round with the help of George and his crew from Farrcombe Contracting. The Flora Valley crew finished first round at No 13 camp, drafting and processing over 6,000 head while there. They have moved camp back to the homestead and have been busy trucking sale cattle and catching up on some maintenance before starting on th...e last 2 breeder paddocks. It hasn't been all work and no play here at Flora Valley though - with Covid19 and no where to go we decided to start the very first Flora Valley Invitational Challenge! A fun day was had by all which started with horse events during the day, a night of novelty events and finished off with a BBQ at the rec club. The winners of the very first challenge were team "Will Power!"

23.01.2022 MOOLOOLOO STATION - MARCH 2021 The wet season at Moolooloo so far has frequently produced nice steady rain with only a few larger storms causing havoc on the roads. 706mm of rain has been recorded at the station homestead for the 2020/2021 wet season, with the hopes to still snag a few March storms. This has been a welcomed treat compared to previous wet seasons. There has been a large quantity of green pasture produced from the wet plus creeks and waterways have had great ...flows, and all dams and natural water points are full. Cattle are spread out across the station enjoying the green feed and look to be in good condition. Our horses are fat and healthy, ready to tackle this year’s mustering. The small crew over the wet have been busy pulling down old buildings, fixing roads to ensure ease of access around the station complex during the wet and building gates for new fencing projects. General repairs and maintenance are also being completed to ensure we are set up and ready for the busy season to get underway. We look forward to welcoming our new and returning staff back for an enjoyable, successful and rewarding 2021 season.

22.01.2022 Someone fire up the barbie!!!! Homemade sausages made onsite at our Flora Valley Station, using only the best HCCo. produce. #homemadesausages #beef #bbq #getinmybelly #floravalleystation #westernaustralia #heytesburypastoral

19.01.2022 BIRRINDUDU STATION The 2020 cattle season is now on the downhill side and staff are working to get all work carried out before the 'Great' wet season arrives (we can only hope!). The one thing we are all excited about is leaving the icy cold mornings behind, but I am sure as the weather heats up over the next few months our minds will drift back in time. The strong gusty August winds seem to be arriving late this year so we are enjoying the beautiful weather on offer for no...w. Leading Hand, Coadie, and her team have done a great job keeping to the work program this year which has allowed all work to be completed on time, and doing a great job along the way too. Due to the kind 2019/2020 wet season, cattle have grown well and have benefited from the fresh feed. A bit of excitement was thrown in this year as there have been a few clean skin bulls roaming out of the desert onto Birrindudu and their not a very educated bunch of animals - the stock camps skills were put to the test as they were cleaned out of the paddocks. Once a final muster of the weaner mums from first round is completed and the out of season breeders are weaned, cattle work will be finished for the year. Boreman, Phil, has been busy keeping up with his bore running and maintenance of the bore equipment. There are approximately 45 Turkey nests/tanks, and over 135 troughs - keeping these full and clean can sometimes be a very repetitive job. Our Operator, Mick, has been our 'Jack of all Trades' this year, building tank pads, vegetable garden beds, desilting turkey nests, putting in troughs and placing street lights throughout the homestead. Station Cook, Maria, continues to motor on each day in the kitchen with a friendly smile plus providing great nutritious meals for the entire team. Well done to the entire Birrindudu Team.

19.01.2022 PHOTO COMP - LAST CHANCE TO VOTE Don't forget to like your favourite photo and share our photo comp. Voting closes 2pm (AEST), Tuesday 9th June 2020

19.01.2022 MT SANFORD STATION With the end of the Cattle season fast approaching at Mt Sanford, we are busy with final musters and getting into repairs and maintenance work while we await the Wet. Our stock camp have 2 breeder paddocks left to muster to finish out the year. Once the weaners have been branded and walked to their Wet season paddocks, and a few paddocks moved around for Wet season spelling, cattle work will be complete. The camp will then be able to start finishing off Ca...pital projects, pipelines and trough installations and then get into some much needed yard repair work. Once we cannot move around the Station as easily (hopefully lots of rain), maintenance work around the homestead will also commence. This will include any repairs to buildings, fencing, vehicle maintenance and plenty more. Our Head Stockman, Campbell, has taken a hand to making sausages for the Station on days where we are stuck at the Homestead due to rain. It has been great to enjoy homemade sausages again, using our own beef. The staff enjoyed a great weekend in Katherine in October, where they joined in on the Town Vs Ringer football competition. Although the teams were not successful in the competition they all had a fantastic time. We have been lucky enough to start getting rain in mid September, which has been a happy change to the past 3 years. Some of the Station has a very nice green colour to it, while other parts are still unlucky enough to have missed out. Although we haven't had a run in our major river, Victoria river, a lot of the water holes have filled up from run off water. This has been great for spreading cattle out onto better feed. With the rain about it has given our Boreman, Damon, some much needed time to service motors and other maintenance work that sometimes gets missed during busy times. Bruce, our operator, has been hard at work getting the main access road built up and graded in preparation for the Wet season. Building up the roads will help to keep water off the road and make the station more accessible during the Wet. From the beginning of December we will start to see the final staff head off on their much deserved Wet season breaks and hopefully all will return next year.

18.01.2022 PIGEON HOLE STATION It has been quite a while since our last update and a lot has happened here at Pigeon Hole. We welcomed our crew back for the season, and after inductions they started flood gating and fencing, followed by drafting and shoeing our plant horses ready for mustering. First round we kicked off mustering our first calf heifers into #12 yard and pulling off their calves before they drop too much in body condition, what a lovely line of weaners they were. We the...n moved around to our other 3 yards, processing cows and pulling off weaners, before educating them and putting them into our weaner complex, or early weaning program. In amongst this we have also drafted up some of our grower cattle, running to the south to be sent for sale, or to the flood plain. Just the other day our camp came back from their first camp out at Police Hole. Their camp was set up in on the banks of the Gordon Creek which is a lovely spot to spend a couple of weeks. With the onset of the cooler weather there has been a fire most nights and plenty of yarns to go around. Our stock camp have completed over half of first round, with only paddocks to the north around Coles yard to come in. Graham, our new grader driver, has done a great job opening the roads after the wet. Ron and old Jackson are full time on the bores, keeping water up to our herd, and Megan our cook is busy keeping us all fed. With the Covid restrictions we have had to make our own fun, and just a few weeks ago we had a BBQ and competed in our homemade Iso Challenge, which included running, jumping, yard woddies and 44 gallon drums - it was very amusing and gave all us spectators quite a laugh. Everyone is looking forward to an ease in the Covid restrictions and the chance to go to town, or catch up with mates, it might have to wait a few weeks while we finish our first round though, but everyone is pretty excited to make some new friends and enjoy the social side of life again!

15.01.2022 MT SANFORD STATION It’s been a busy few months here at Mt Sanford. With Breeder mustering beginning in early March, the crew have been going full on. Weaners have been weighed and anything less than 120kg has been put into a special programme to ensure they do not fall behind. Although the COVID-19 restrictions have created some obstacles, it is almost business as usual for us on Station. The staff have been able to go fishing and camping on days off, and after work staff ...have been able to partake in activities like touch football, table tennis, darts and other activities. The Easter weekend was spent fishing and swimming at Depot Creek, with lunched cooked on the campfire. We've been able to truck a large number of cows and some feeder steers to sale, which has helped to lighten up the numbers on Station. With only grower cattle to be mustered now, cattle work will soon be over for a little while and we'll be able to get into some repairs & maintenance work around the station, to get everything back into tip top shape.

14.01.2022 PIGEON HOLE STATION The last update for Pigeon Hole was back in early May, and well a lot has changed since then! Our previous Pigeon Hole Managers, and their crew were busy completing first round up until their departure in late June. Prior to this they had processed all breeders, including branding of calves and the majority of weaners, along with trucking out some sale cattle. ... Paul & Kate Watts have now taken over the reigns at Pigeon Hole, transferring from our Moolooloo Station with their crew in tow. The crew have worked hard learning their way around the new property, yards, horses and gear. They went straight into mustering and drafting lines of steers & speyed heifers ready to truck, with 1,080 steers going out in one day and 360 heifers on another. The joiners have been preg-tested and the culls/empties were sold, horses shod and fencing done. There has also been plenty of mid-year maintenance going on around the cattle work, getting all the gear up to scratch so we have less downtime interruptions for second round. Our boreman has been learning the runs and has been kept busy with the dry season well upon us and with the usual repairs and maintenance. The crew have finally been able to attend a few social events around the district with the lifting of COVID restrictions, and their first campdraft, Pussycat, is coming up in a couple of weeks. They are also keen to try their hand at some barra fishing at the river nearby.

12.01.2022 VICTORIA RIVER DOWNS (VRD) As we write our update this month, good rain has finally arrived!! Well over 80mm of rain has fallen across the run in the past 3 days, bringing much needed relief to the relentless hot weather. November was a busy month, turning off the final number of the sale cattle and branding the last of the 0's for the year. The second round weaners have been pulled off mum and will remain on supplement until the country comes away, and they can be moved on...to fresh feed. Our new bulls have arrived from Queensland, and they were in good condition after their long journey. Over at Humbert River, Jordan and Jonty have demonstrated their carpentry skills, installing new kitchen cupboards in the main house, re-purposing some old jarrah cupboards from one of our other properties in Perth. The crew enjoyed a few days off in November to travel to Darwin for our Social Club Christmas party. There was a fair amount of competition on the Go Kart track, Jordan was the overall winner, with Sam coming in a close second. Following the Go Kart action, the crew experienced salt water crocodiles up close on the Adelaide River Queen Jumping Croc Cruise. It has been a big year with many challenges and the crew have done a tremendous job completing the work, all with a smile and good morale. With all seasonal staff now off station on leave, we are winding down for Christmas. Those left on station will be kept busy monitoring waters plus general maintenance around the complex.

12.01.2022 FLORA VALLEY STATION Well first round is truly done and dusted... and now we're looking down the barrel of second round which kicks off in October. We have already had a little taste of the heat that will surely be beating down on us soon enough. Hopefully rumours are true and we'll be getting a huge wet season this year.... Not much has slowed down for our boreman, Dave, who has done a great job keeping waters up to the cattle. We have just installed another Pioneer tank and 16 Northern Stock Water troughs to the run at Flora Valley, so the bore running doesn't look like its going to ease up until we see some rain. Most of our capital development work has been completed with the help of Red Rust Contracting, who installed 4 new Pioneer tanks as well as 19 Northern Stock Water troughs, both at Flora Valley and our outstation, Nicholson. CMT Builders in Halls Creek have also just turned up to complete renovations on the 2IC's house - we cant wait to see the finished product. The crew have been busy with maintenance around the run and sorting through our #9 heifers, selecting the keepers out of 5,500 head. Great work by the team. #floravalley #westernaustralia #heytesburypastoral

Ron was a huge part of the HCCo. family for many years, passing on invaluable horsemanship skills to our teams, as well as being a great friend to many. Ron, you will be sadly missed.

09.01.2022 FLORA VALLEY STATION Since our last update staff have managed to get 6,000 baits cut up and distributed across the 3 Flora Valley leases, along with completing a second round at Flora Valley, Gordon Downs and Nicholson - it was a great effort from everyone, especially as the temperatures hovered around the forties. We finally got a bit of reprieve from the heat last week with 30mm of rain at Flora Valley and 25mm at Nicholson.... and it looks like more is on the way with stor...m clouds brewing. CMT Builders have finished the renovations for the 2IC house and it looks amazing! This final project concludes all our capital work for 2020.... phew! With another year coming to a close here at Flora Valley, we held our break up party over the weekend to celebrate another successful year. Staff all received a small gift to thank them for their efforts, and it was also the start of staff travelling home for their Christmas holidays. We look forward to seeing most of them again next year. Merry Christmas to all from Flora Valley and we hope you all have a fantastic New Year!

08.01.2022 MOUNT SANFORD STATION Its been a busy couple of months at Mt Sanford, with sale cattle being trucked, breeder cattle mustered and weaned, weaners processed and put into their wet season paddocks, and R&M work has also commenced. The stock camp have been busy with mustering the last of the breeders in July, these breeders were the late calvers in March and were due for weaning in July. Our grower cattle has also now been through the yard and weighed up into weight categories ...based on market demand. We have been very lucky this year to still be able to sell a good number of cattle, especially during the COVID pandemic. It has been very beneficial to lighten up the number of cattle at Mt Sanford to ensure that we can look after our paddocks and cattle better until the upcoming wet season. R&M work has become a large part of the workload, now that cattle work has subsided and the stock camp have been able to spend time on repairing fences, doing supplement runs and general repair work to yards and equipment. We have had a staff change with our Boreman leaving for other opportunities, which has meant our Cook has stepped up to take on the position as Boreman. This has been a great change for Damo and he has been doing a fantastic job with keeping up water to the cattle and maintaining the bore equipment and troughs. Bruce, our Grader driver has completed all the road work for the year and is now moving onto grading fence lines to create fire breaks for any fires that may come through later in the year as dry storms start to form. We have recently hosted a couple of training workshops at Mt Sanford. The Erosion Workshop was held in June, with operators from our 6 stations attending the workshop, facilitated by Darryl Hill. The purpose of the workshop is to help our operators, new and existing, understand ways to build up roads and create other erosion prevention techniques in order to maintain the condition of our roads during the wet season. In July we also held a Beginners PregTesting workshop, facilitated by our Manager, Dusty Hutley. Head Stockman from across the 6 stations were invited to attend the workshop so that they could learn the basics of preg-testing. By the end of the 2 day workshop the attendees were able to successfully identify between pregnant and not pregnant, and with more practice back at their home Stations they should be able to hone their skills further. It hasn’t been all work and no play for the team though - everyone has had the opportunity to take some time off station to head to town for some much needed rest & relaxation. This past weekend the team attended the Pussycat Campdraft & Rodeo, with some of the team entering the competitions with positive results. A couple of our team have now gained some confidence and are ready to give it another go at Timber Creek Campdraft, and our Head Stockman just missed out on a place in the finals. A big congratulations to everyone for giving it a go!

08.01.2022 Due to some last-minute no shows, we now have a couple of spots available for the 2021 season. To apply visit our website: www.heytesburycattleco.com.au - Join our Team.

04.01.2022 VICTORIA RIVER DOWNS STATION (VRD) During this extraordinary year, as many parts of the world adjust to living the 'new normal' under the shadow of Covid-19, VRD has provided a sanctuary, and life on the big run has been rolling along. With a delayed start to the season due to the late rain, our team of new and old employees were eager to get into the mountain of work that lay ahead of them. After surveying and fixing thousands of kilometres of fence lines, they turned thei...r attention to building new weaner yards at the station to accommodate the weaner program. After a short break for Easter, a fishing competition and some more rain, the horses were shod and preparation was well underway for the first muster. Cameron and a small crew from Farrcombe Contracting complemented the workforce based at Humbert River. Combined, this cohort of dedicated employees and contractors has processed 25,000 head through the yards, turned off 4,300 head of sale cattle and sent just shy of 3,200 head to agistment. It was a great effort and we all celebrated the end of first round with a Mexican night at the VRD Social Club!!! Out on the run, Jonty at Humbert River and Robert at VRD have completed the grading of all main roads, and our boreman, Steve, has been super busy learning his VRD bore run. Lorette continues to create tantalising delicacies in the kitchen, even stoking up the old VRD bread oven one night for a VRD Pizzeria. Our home tutor, Jenny, hosted a VRD Art and Photo competition... turns out there are many hidden talents in our VRD/Humbert River/Helimuster ring!! Congratulations to Tylah Bonisch (VRD Headstockmen) who won best overall photo. The first round of weaners were inducted into the Ordco weaner program as the weaners were processed. The new yards are working very well and our first lot of weaners have been turned out, with another batch not too far off being evicted. With the bulk of the work now behind us, everyone is looking forward to attending a few campdrafts off station and enjoying a well earned break.
