05.01.2022 Why I want to be at the HFESA National Conference 2019 by Alexandra Giraldo. "HFESA National Conference is a fantastic opportunity to keep updated about the changes, innovation and tendencies of approaching human factors in different environments. ...the conference will allow me to explore the potential contributions I could provide to my team with a broader perspective, always prioritising the human being over the technology." "Being human and Beyond" is a unique opportunity... to learn from the experiences of other colleagues that have a longer trajectory on topics related to technologies and quality of life. It will expand my knowledge about elements that may influence the design and interaction of spaces and human relationships. By listening and networking with the speakers and participants, I get new ideas, motivation and knowledge about what people are developing around the world." #HFESA2019 #HFESAUS

Stephen Hehir (HFESA President) and Wes Wilkinson (HFESA PAB Chair) met with Korean students visiting Australia to attend the 2019 Global Challenges for Youth with Disability Conference in Melbourne. The students were interested in how ergonomists can assist in making work and public systems accessible. The students learnt that we focus not on what people with disabilities cant do, but on ...what they can do and how make accessible arrangements to play to the strengths of the of the individual. Wes demonstrated a means of enabling workplace accessibility with a one handed control system, and worked through the design process for them. Stephen explained how reasonable adjustment arrangements work in an an Australian Corporation and talked through some case studies. The students were also impressed with seeing some best practice accessibility arrangements at Australia Post HQ. It was great to see the students taking such a holistic approach to overcoming disability challenges.
