23.01.2022 Great couple of day’s training at AELEC. Everyone had a great time. Just sorry I didn’t get photos of everyone. Thanks everyone for taking photos to share. Thanks to TIE for use of jumps and aelec for the facilities. So much grass we couldn’t find some of the jumps. The going was amazing! All that aggravating and aerating.

18.01.2022 To avoid being hauled around by an aggressive horse, to be able to set up a running horse in front of a fence, learn this one simple technique--- You need to an...chor your base, and your base is NOT your knee. Your base is your heel. If you were in a tug of war with another person, would you set your feet so that your knee was in front of your foot? Not unless you want to be pulled down on your face, you wouldn't. Yet we see so many riders with their feet behind their knees pulling ineffectually at a running horse. All they do, when that knee is the fulcrum, is to pull their own upper bodies further forward and down. The physics of the matter says stick your foot forward, and open up your body, to avoid being dragged. I am not talking about "water-skiing" where you just lean against the horse, but having the innate balance to be able to use your weight effectively. Why be a victim of faulty physics? Learn how to do this. Or get hauled, your choice----

17.01.2022 Mares aren’t always well liked and for the same reasons strong women aren’t. Opinionated? Those opinions are not without good cause and maybe you can't figure ...them out or maybe you just don’t like her opinion of you. Change it and she will always be on your side. Stubborn? She just won’t let you bulldoze her. Treat her with respect and her resilience will be an asset to you. Difficult? You just can’t handle her. You don’t have what it takes. Stick with geldings then, and leave the mare for someone who understands her and appreciates the same qualities society has subtlety taught you not to like. Here’s to mares, to strong women, and to those who CAN and DO appreciate them! ~ The Evolving Equestrian

05.01.2022 Parents, let your daughters grow up to be horse girls, because they will learn quickly and repeatedly that life isn’t fair, that hard work is often trumped by ...Lady Luck, and that every defeat, no matter how terrible, is temporary. Let them dream big and kick on. Let them learn confidence, grace and grit. Let them build big muscles and strong backs. Let your daughters grow up in the barn. Let them learn that buckets need filling and stalls need cleaning, even when it’s raining, even when it’s frozen, even when they have a different idea for how the day should go. Teach them to drive trucks and trailers and ATVs. Teach them to change tires and wrap legs and give shots. And let them leave a spur mark, or a bit rub, or a bandage bow, and let them deal with the shame of causing pain to an animal they love. Let them grow up with horses and with good horse people, because it will teach them to be humble, and to be resilient, and to be brave. 04.01.2022 Somewhere in the world, the 2028 Olympic champion is a foal out in a field. He’s ewe-necked, sickle-hocked, downhill and shaggy, with a club foot and a chunk of... mane missing, because his buddy chewed it off. Somewhere in the world, there’s a young horse that everyone says is too short to make it big. In three years, he’ll be jumping the standards, but right now he’s fat and short and no one is paying him any mind. Somewhere in the world there’s a 7-year-old who can’t turn right, and a 10-year-old who has not shown the ability to put more than two one-tempis together without losing it, and a 14-year-old who hasn’t yet reached his peak, and all of them will be at the next Olympic Games. Somewhere else in the world, there’s a rider who is thinking of packing it in. Maybe the bills are getting out of control, or she’s killing herself to get enough help in her own riding development because she’s having to spend all her time riding and teaching to make ends meet and change needs to happen, and she’s wondering if it’s worth it. She’s thinking it’s time to just give up and be a local trainer, to shelve her dreams of international competition. And then she’s going to shake off the doubt, double down, and make a team in the next 15 years. Somewhere in the world, one of the next great team riders is 9 years old and couldn’t tell if she was on the right posting diagonal if her life depended on it. Somewhere in the world there’s a future team rider who just got told that she’ll never make it because she’s too chubby, because she’s too short, because she’s too late. There are horses who will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars that will never amount to anything, and there are horses who will be touted as the Next Big Thing only to be never seen or heard from again, and there are horses who will fly under the radar until suddenly they’re setting the world on fire. There are riders who will win Junior and Young Rider competitions only to quit riding completely, riders who will be touted as the Next Big Thing only to get stuck in their comfort zones and never come to fruition, and there are riders who will make their first Olympic team at 50, at 55, at even older than that. And yes, there are the horses that will be brilliant from day one, and there are the riders for whom success both comes early and stays late. But more often than not, history has shown that the unlikely story, the horse who was passed over in favor of his more expensive stablemate, the rider who no one saw coming, is the more likely path to greatness. 01.01.2022 The family HH team also had a super weekend. Lucky for us we had super groom and our own personal coach on board Michael Ruddy making sure we knew what was good and how to improve! HH Deluxe had a good start back with a lovely test, finishing with a 2nd place in the 1*, HH Macnificent won the dressage but will one rail down came back to 3rd, so happy with him, 95cm next weekend. Reese stuck to her profile of tricky ponies in the dressage but being such a super jumping joc...key and jumping ponies came up the placings . In separate classes Angie and Max both came 2nd in the juniors and both were 9th overall. (Not many photos as I was riding at the same time and socialising with friends is hard to keep track of her) Rhani had her first 60cm class in open company. Sophie was of course just perfect although still needs to find the gallop button ( super safe sometimes means super steady). They came 5th in the juniors but also 12th overall. She was so happy ! She also looked amazing dressed by the Steph Watt Alex Wattana Liz family x These three ponies make life as Mum so easy, Thankyou Debbie Kelley, Jo Amy Roberts and Sandra Kamper!! They both had the most amazing time with friends as did we, getting back out to an event. We love Warrumbungles event at Coonabarabran. Such a welcoming committee, who put so much in for us all. Thankyou! Looking forward to Camden next weekend, woohoo! See more
