23.01.2022 FISHING/HUNTING TRIPS While brief fishing trips from home are considered exercise (within the two-person limit), fishing and camping holidays are not. Plea...se dont think if you pack up your fishing, camping or hunting gear this Easter or school holiday break and travel into country NSW that you are doing it legally you are not. The inclusion of fishing, hunting and golf as an allowable recreation is about people who can access that activity locally. You cannot use fishing, hunting or golf as an excuse to travel on a holiday or to your usual retreat in country NSW. The key message here is people should not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary to do so and covered by an exemption (for example to go to the supermarket or doctor). We are asking people to understand that staying inside your own community with your own family is the safest option. All police in regional NSW will be patrolling roads and conducting high visibility policing operations. Along with traffic law enforcement, those officers will be targeting unnecessary travel. Persons detected travelling without reasonable excuse will be directed to return to their home address and run the risk of being issued with a $1000 infringement notice. Starting on Tuesday 28th of January we will be holding two auctions for a full days marlin fishing onboard Head Hunter out of Bermagui valued at $2200 per day! Head Hunter Charters in conjunction with Tyrone OConnor are happily donating the cost of the two days. All proceeds of the auctions will go to those impacted by the far south coast fires.... 15.01.2022 - . The Far South Coast normally openly welcomes tourists during the Easter period. However local authorities are now urgin...g visitors to the area to please postpone your visits. For emergency services such as Tathra Fire Brigade, we see a spike in jobs during tourist season and responding to these incidents does increase risks of our crews contracting COVID-19. We are committed to maintaining full emergency coverage, but you can help us, by not heightening the likelihood of us being needed to roll out. In addition, our local health services will need to be focussed on maintaining support for our local community and visitors will place further stress on the system. Most hospitality and entertainment venues are now closed and our supermarkets are only just managing. This means the community cant cater for guests, like it normally does so well. So please postpone your visits until we all return to normality. We look forward to seeing you then.

14.01.2022 This is a critical update for Batemans Bay regarding COVID-19 following a new development this evening (Friday 17 July) While investigations are underway, ...anyone who attended the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club between 7pm to 9:30pm on Monday 13 July or the BIG4 Batemans Bay East Caravan Park from Monday 13 July and Tuesday 14 July should come forward for testing. Everyone on the Far South Coast must be on high alert - please dont be complacent. Please follow all health advice and the instructions of our police. Stay safe everyone.

13.01.2022 COVID-19 CASE DETECTED IN MERIMBULA UPDATE 1:10PM The Southern NSW Local Health District has clarified one person detected with COVID-19 has visited two sep...arate venues in Merimbula last week. The Southern NSW LHD said the case separately attended several venues in NSW, including the Merimbula RSL on the 6 July for dinner, and the Waterfront Cafe in Merimbula on the 7 July for Breakfast. The case also attended the following locations outside the Bega Valley: 5 July lunch at Cook at Kurnell 5 July dinner at Highfield, Caringbah 4 and 5 July Murray Downs Golf Club The Southern NSW LHD said this case is not related to the last positive case involving the teenager from Victoria. On social media, The Waterfront Cafe said they will temporarily close while staff get tested and cleaning takes place. The Merimbula RSL club has also temporarily closed as of this morning after they were alerted to the positive case. A spokesperson from the club said all staff are being tested and are awaiting results. While investigations are underway, NSW Health urges anyone who attended these venues at these times must watch for respiratory symptoms or fever, and if they occur, isolate and get tested for COVID-19 right away.

06.01.2022 #BREAKING - COVID CASE IN BEGA VALLEY A teenager from Victoria who is on holiday on the South Coast has been diagnosed with COVID-19, after a testing error b...y Victorian authorities. Anyone who attended the Tathra Hotel on Sunday afternoon is urged to have a Covid-19 test if theyre feeling unwell. The family did not come from an identified hotspot, at the time they left to travel to NSW. The teenager had a COVID test before leaving Victoria and was told the result was negative but was contacted again after arriving in Merimbula, and advised there had been an error. The teenagers family visited the Tathra Hotel on Sunday before being told of the positive result. 80 patrons who were in the hotel at the time are now being contacted, although NSW Health says the risk of them contracting coronavirus is low.
