24.01.2022 Oh hey that’s fun reading about a great off grid home over the Saturday morning weeties. Even more fun when it’s one of your own projects. A fantastic house, with a great client and great builder to work with - always a pleasure B & H.

24.01.2022 Thanks goes to Hume Bank and all the volunteers for putting on a fantastic event and the opportunity for us to take part in supporting Albury Wodonga Health, who have gotten all of us out of trouble throughout the year. Also a massive shout out to this amazing team of walkers who gave up their Sunday morning sleep in to go for a massive walk with us. You guys are awesome and so much fun to hang out with Thanks for the strong representation of a great team. Now to sleep the afternoon away on the couch watching Fire Fight Australia

23.01.2022 So practical and no compromise on style

23.01.2022 Here we go again folks. The showroom is closed again for anything other than accepting deliveries all other meetings can (and therefore must) be done via phone or video link conferencing. Or feel free to email [email protected]. Stay safe and happy!

22.01.2022 Who’s sick of their time being devoted to navigating a challenge, only for the bar to continue being raised each time you think you’ve nailed it Well they’ve gone too far now! Like and share the Border Trades for Community page to send a message to the government. Wouldn’t it be nice to have your very own legal department to palm off compliance issues! Or wouldn’t it be nice to have your own self-issued golden ticket to go wherever the heck you want in Australia. Would...n’t it be nice to be classed as an essential worker so you can continue sending your kids to school. Up in pixie land they’re just not getting it. Yes, there’s no denying there’s an issue! But is the issue bad enough here to warrant what they’re putting us through now and for years to come? Like and share the Border Trades for Community page - help us send them the message. With enough noise they might listen to us! See more

20.01.2022 Who likes home automation? But what we love even more is how user friendly this smart little device is. The big buzz around our showroom at the moment is our newly installed Nest Learning Thermostat. Check out the new blog post on our website for more information about this fantastic device, or (if you're covid risk free) come in and have a fiddle with our interactive great wall of thermostats! https://www.hickshydronics.com/the-great-wall-of-thermosta/

18.01.2022 Here's one for everyone, big and small. Kiddos, can you spy with your clever little eye two swans? How about some cool patterns? Or can you trace your finger all the way around and around the spirals? And now for the oldies ... Here we have a staged pour. The first photo gives a nice shot of the white pipes our crew have laid. The first stage of the slab is ready to be poured. The second photo is a long shot, showings stage one ready to pour and the dirt scratched for the stage two section of the house. The third photo shows stage one slab complete and stage two all ready for the concrete to be poured.

18.01.2022 Here's one for the ladies - HAPPY premature 2020 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY! Especially to a couple of my favourites and the rest of the women in the construction industry. Every day, you Athenas inspire me to be a better, stronger, smarter, wittier and braver version of myself Being a woman in a heavily male dominant industry comes with regular challenges and BS assumptions that sees our processes undermined and knowledge undervalued. Trady ladies, rise above and prove th...em wrong! And failing that, if your intelligence, skills and standards are interpreted as attitude, then brush it off and flick them the bird when they leave - Cue hair toss, check ya nails, baby how you feelin'? I hope you're all treated like goddesses on Sunday! - Felicity

17.01.2022 Happy World Plumbing Day! - Yes, it's a thing. If you're toilets are blocked then I have three simple pieces of advice for you: 1) Keep calm and call a plumber. 2) Be nice to your plumber, chances are he/she has had to put up with enough crap for one day ; and 3) Ease up on the toilet tickets, less excess down your pipes means there's more to go around for every other toot paper poor Aussie!

17.01.2022 IT'S OFFICIAL - WE'VE GONE GREEN! Not gross Covid green, more like clean green. What do you get when you combine renewable energy and local community unity. Indigo Power! This is a culmination of a couple of things that we hold near and dear to our hearts so we're stoked to have just jumped on the local energy bandwagon for electricity supply to our Wodonga premises and our own home. Indigo Power has created energy hubs to supply more renewable energy to its customers as well... as provide a platform for customers to share their own solar power when more is being generated than what they're consuming. We also love that Indigo Power is owned by local shareholders, especially at this time when it's more important right now than ever to support local. Do yourself, your community and the environment a favour, go jump on Indigo Power's website to see what they can offer. https://indigopower.com.au/

16.01.2022 Sales & Project Manager - Closing 10.11.2020 With our toes sitting on the doorstep of the new year, we're very excited to roll out our new Sales & Project Manager position. This is a brand new position that has been created through a restructure to account for the growth we've experienced within our local market. If you have any metro friends that would be well suited to the role and they need a tree change after being caged for months, then please share away.... https://www.hickshydronics.com/position-vacant-sales-proje/ See more

15.01.2022 Freezing ice storm for some of the boys up at Mount Hotham this morning - nothing but warm and fuzzy down here at Hicks Hydronics HQ though!

14.01.2022 Can’t agree more with our mate Luke Fleggless Flegeltaub at Kobi Energy Soutions. Keep in mind though, sometimes things aren’t always as they seem. Are the local businesses you’re supporting actually locally owned and have our community’s best interests at heart?

14.01.2022 If you're thinking about building a new home or doing a substantial renovation, then no doubt you've seen the exciting news! What does this actually mean to you though? Will you spend an extra $25k that you wouldn't have otherwise spent as is intended? Or is the government putting an extra $25k in your bank for you to offset your mortgage interest? Or are you off to Europe as soon as you can take off? We'd love to hear your thoughts. Have you considered that $25k could be the difference between a basic heating system and a luxurious hydronic under floor heating system, run with a state of the art heat pump for the ultimate efficiency. Pair that up with some solar energy from our mates at Kobi Energy Solutions and you'll be laughing when the power bill comes in

11.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago I started telling you the story of Mr and Mrs James and promised to update you on progress with a little education session along the way. As promised, read on This project began when Mr James came and met with me (Felicity Hicks) in our showroom to discuss how badly he feels the cold. With a good chat we were able to establish we could help with not only the heating but also the hot water as his old hottie was on its last legs. Here’s your first fun fac...t, Mr & Mrs James’ gas boiler is a combination boiler that services both the heating and hot water. Mr James and I were all sorted and ready to go, except for one speed bump. Mrs James had to be convinced! Through very close consultation with the James’ discussing sizes, colours and locations of radiators over a few meetings, we had Mrs James sceptically agreeable to installing the new heating and hot water system. Fun fact two, we have access to literally thousands of different sized radiators and can even have them powder coated to have a discreet or feature presence. With the installation now complete, the James’ are extremely happy with their new heating and hot water system. I bumped into Mrs James in the super market the other day and she even commented that she doesn’t even notice the radiators anymore. Fun fact three, even the greatest of sceptics that don’t like the look of radiators can be converted . We would like to thank the James’ for putting their trust in us, being so delightful to work with and their kind words below. Experienced and friendly tradesmen. Exceptional customer service. Extremely happy. Would highly recommend.

10.01.2022 WHAT A VIEW! Absolute perfect visual confirmation of an in-screed system operating beautifully. The in-screed system in the main living area complements the radiators located throughout the rest of the home, all heated by a super efficient condensing boiler. This stunner is located in Falls Creek. I guess the view out the window isn't too shabby either.

08.01.2022 With restrictions easing, the weather amazing and remote school lessons consisting of birds eye view, it seemed only fitting to take the kids on an excursion to see a real life birds eye view (aka floor plan) taking shape. It’s a mammoth team effort to turn a 2D birds eye plan into a warm and welcoming 3D home. Our team doing a fantastic job, as always, to make sure these repeat clients are left as warm and happy with this one as they were with the last one we did for th...em On a side note, flashback to last week’s post looking at multi-stage concrete pours, the aerial photo here gives a great visual of how this multi-stage concrete pour will be completed. With those two skinny halls connecting the main living area to the master wing and the kids/guest wing, they need to be poured separately to maintain structural integrity. Once completed, this slab will have 6 seperate sections (including the garage, bottom left section).

06.01.2022 We've had a few jobs upgrading plant and equipment up in the snow fields over the past few weeks. Here's a nice little bit of workmanship from the crew. Hopefully it won't be too long before everyone can come out of hiding and travel to these amazing parts of our country to appreciate our team's work. P.S. I wish I knew who to credit for this spectacular photo, stunning work to showcase one of our country's most beautiful assets

04.01.2022 Let us know (with a post on the Border Trades for Community page) how the Border Restrictions have impacted your business. Everything will be forwarded to the right people so we can make them realise they’ve gone too far and get the changes we all need to thrive.

04.01.2022 Despite the Covid/political wall, we will continue heading over the border to service our NSW clients the second we can get a permit to do so. Once the border closure is enforced we will have to temporarily refrain from travelling to NSW (we're so sorry) but we will be keeping up to date with NSW Service opening applications to make sure we can get the necessary permits asap. Adiós amigos!

01.01.2022 BUSINESS AS USUAL! Kind of... Please respect social distancing and non-essential visits to our office. We still really welcome any phone calls Stay well and take care everyone.

01.01.2022 IS IT TOO EARLY? This is a question we will find ourselves pondering many times during our lives. Is it too early to consume this picnic? 10am Friday morning when I have to be at school for the young bloke’s class assembly, yep, probably too early. ... Is it too early to start supporting the bush fire affected communities, such as the King Valley where I grew up? No way! Do yourself a favour and get on it. (Big shout out to Milawa Cheese Co for their always amazing cheese we got bright and early this morning. Is it too early to start considering heating systems when only just starting to plan the dream home? No way, get on it. We love planning for existing homes well before Winter. And we’re all for planning new home heating systems in the very early stages. As locals who have been in the industry for a long time and built our own home, we know lots of the trades and little functional tips that we’re only too willing to share. Have a great weekend everyone. Get out there, pack up the kids, tents and bikes and go support your local or neighbouring communities!
