24.01.2022 When asked what my memorable meals are in Italy, I think of the Ristorante del Cambio in Turin (very fancy) and the 'pranzo con i pastori' in Sardina - every item absolutely 0-kilometres, from the little piggies who free-range in the common lands above Oliena to the wine (home-made from the local cannonau grapes); from the bread (pane carasau) to the fresh ricotta etc etc - and then the beautiful setting after a great walk

23.01.2022 My 10 favourite walks in Italy 2: Tiscali (an ancient hideaway in the centre of Sardinia). The local people held out against the Romans in this mountain eery for years. It is a steep climb up through this crack, which could be easily guarded to keep the bad guys out.

22.01.2022 After a restorative cappuccino, we continued on our way around the northern side of the Gardena valley heading towards lunch. Being on the border with Austria, the Dolomites are a tri-lingual area: German, Italian and the indegenous language Ladino. The rifugio we have lunch at is known as either Regensburg Hutte or the Rifugio Firenze, take your choice. It has been here since 1888 and is marvellous!

02.01.2022 One of my favourite of all walks is the hike to Tiscali in the mountains in the heart of Sardinia. But before I put put up images, I have mention one of my favourite restaurants in Cagliari, the capital of the island: Trattoria Lillicu
