23.01.2022 The coffee plantation journey at Hidden Garden is developing beautifully with our first season of fruit. Two and a half years ago these trees were planted and today we are picking some ripe arabica coffee berries. We have just over 400 plants in the ground and another 100 in the nursery. As the harvest increases we hope to be processing an organic signature blend for locals to enjoy. ... Did you know that coffee plants have a life span of up to two hundred years! It’s a wonderful thought to know the work we do for them today will span beyond our lives and enrich the life of others.

16.01.2022 Our free range pekin ducks are loving life at the Hidden Garden. It’s so nice seeing them waddling around the farm, they keep the insects down while leaving behind nitrogen rich fertiliser to enrich the soil. Their presence around the garden creates an ecosystem that is sustainable and beneficial to the permaculture farming principals we are applying to the garden. We look forward to breeding the flock and In the future we hope to have a steady supply of delicious eggs avai...lable. Watch this space

16.01.2022 We are so encouraged by the level of interest from our community and we do hope that the success of this year’s competition creates enough momentum to make this an annual event on the Christmas Island calendar. A representative from the Judging panel will be in contact with contestants to book in a time for a site visit and discuss the judging criteria and guidelines. It also has iron which increases haemoglobin in our red blood cells. 07.01.2022 We would like to share some inspiration from one of our Best Garden Competition Sponsors, Drew Watkins from Freightshop. Drew is a little bit Indoor Plant Crazy and is kindly donating a package for this years Best Indoor Plant Category. Please see these words shared by Drew. My love of plants started 20 years ago when I was running the Agriculture Glasshouses at UWA. I had access to unlimited resources so I made the most of it!. After I left UWA in 2001 I didn’t really keep... many plants but still enjoyed pottering around. Fast forward to 2018 and I decided I wanted to enhance our home. It started with a Ficus Lyrata (Fiddle Leaf Fig) and quickly gained momentum! 2 years later and our lounge room is akin to an immature jungle! I find it extremely therapeutic to sit amongst my plants and relax after a stressful day. Shorny, Milly, Addy and I will do our morning workout or yoga surrounded by the greenery. Tending to the plants, watering, misting and repotting gives me a chance to switch off and just deal with what is at hand, in the moment. Mindfulness. Some have labelled it an addiction, im Ok with that I want to let you into my home for a peak, hopefully you will enjoy what you see and find a little inspiration. 06.01.2022 Judging for the Best Garden Copmpetition 2020 kicks off Tuesday 17th November. Three judges will have their work cut out for them as they visit more than 50 garden entries. This Years categories include Best Edible Garden, Best Balcony Garden, Best Transformed Garden, Best Corporate Garden, Best Indoor Garden and Best Overall Garden. Winners will be announced at the Tea Gardens (Police Padang) 10am Sunday 29th November. We look forward to brining everyone together to celebrate the wonderful work of gardeners and the beauty they bring to the Island. 05.01.2022 Judges have just finalised their visits for the Best Garden Competition 2020. The gardens have been of a high standard and the judges have been impressed with the level of enthusiasm and skill. The judges have enjoyed hearing the stories connected with the gardens and how it has brought friends, family and community together. Winners will be announced this Sunday 29th Nov 10am at the Police Padang (Tea Gardens) ... All are welcome to attend the presentations.
