The Local Hero Award is awarded to a partner organisation that is a small-medium enterprise whose engagement with a university in WIL (work integrated learning) and whose contribution to the WIL experience of students, is above and beyond the expectation of the size of their organisation. As alumni of UOW ourselves, we a...re so happy that we can provide support, guidance and experience to current students and have worked with some amazing people as a result. We've held workshops, regular Wasted Wednesday dinners, pickling nights, an eatery and more, all the while meeting incredibly inspiring local people and collaborating with local businesses and organisations. It is safe to say that this space has given us the opportunity to connect with the community of Wollongong like never before, to give people a place to engage with and connect over food in su...stainable and creative ways. Alas, we now have decided to part ways and have moved out of 274, with high hopes for the future and many exciting plans to fill you in on very soon. We'd like to thank Society City for their partnership, friendship and inspo and a big good luck to them as they continue to run the space as a bookshop and communal learning, story-sharing hub. This 38-page food saving bonanza also features some classic HH recipes including our famous Salsa Verde, as well as pick...ling tips and tricks.
