General info, please visit: http://www.thevintageknob.org/yamaha-B-2.html There is no need to talk to much about the B-2. You should know quite well now, if you are looking at this. Simply one of the best power amp ever made in history...so I will just go into the details about this particular unit. This is the no.4 B-2 I have for sale, and I am glad that I have happy previous customers. Cosmetic condition: This is about the best cosmetic condition B-2 you can find. No rust inside and out. The front panel is near perfect without any obvious blemish. There are signs of use and tiny marks but you really have to examine carefully to see them. Original meters in beautiful condition. Meter lamps were upgraded to LEDs in blue color so they should last. Original knobs and switch handles. The top cover is in very nice condition too. Some small marks and color variations, but nothing intrusive. Please study photos. Electronic condition: This unit has been professionally restored recently using top quality modern parts. Works done include the following: 1, All electrolytic capacitors replaced except the 4 big filter capacitors. New parts are mostly Panasonic FC range, and Nichicon MUSE for BP capacitors. The 4 big filter caps were best quality caps from the time and they were tested and hold charge very well still. They can be replaced for extra cost if required. 2, Bias and DC balance trim pots replaced with Bourns multiturn precision pots for stable and precise setting. 3, All suspected transistors and diodes replaced with modern quality parts. 4, All meter lamps replaced with Blue LEDs for longer life. 5, VFETs re-seated with new thermal paste for better heat dissipation. 6, Both speaker protection relays contacts cleaned for clean and faithful signal transmission. 7, Speaker A terminals replaced with pro quality gold-plated banana-connector compatible speaker terminals. 8, All switches and volume pots cleaned for clear and faithful signal transmission. 9, All suspected solder joints re-flowed. 10, Power supplies, bias, DC balance adjusted according to service manual. This amp now is in excellent working condition. Dead silent on the background. Very clean and clear sound with huge dymanic power and vast sound stage. Both meters work beautifully. I have been testing it for hours and hours and it runs very stable. This unit is a 100VAC, 50/60Hz version therefore it requires a 240V to 100V stepdown transformer to work in Australia. A 500W (The B-2 takes 290W) 240V to 100V stepdown transformer is sufficient to power it and that will not affect the performance of the amp. Stepdown transformer not included in this sale.
