15.01.2022 To all my clients , I really appreciate you all. I have made the hard decision to take a sabbatical as to how long I’m not sure . I have family that need me more at the moment, so for me I want and need to be there . But please feel free to text or message me and I will do what I can to help with any questions. All bookings already made will still be done but I won’t be taking on anymore . Thank you for your understanding Shauleen xxxx

05.01.2022 Very interesting article
05.01.2022 Meet Clone. He has serious problems going on in his hooves and it would be easy to suggest the fault lies with the trimmer. "Your should sack that farrier and g...et a better one!" could have been a reasonable suggestion in Clones case. At the time these pics were taken the trimmer had been just two weeks prior. How could the hooves go that bad in such a short amount of time? The answer is somewhere else in his body and it is extremely difficult to predict this unless you have xray vision. Clone was given a year off to rehabilitate after developing an intermittent lameness that looked like it was in a hind leg. After 12 months he had not recovered, he was extremely unpredictable and was eventually euthanized. His bones were collected and the answer became very clear. Clone had experienced a floating accident as a yearling, he was examined and appeared to be ok so his life and work went on, as per normal. As you can see from the pics of his wither he had broken at lease 5 of his spinal process. Sadly the breaks were located exactly under the area of the pommel of the saddle. Would this have been painful for him every time he was ridden? Without a doubt! Did it alter the way he moved and therefore impact on the bio-mechanics of the rest of his body? Absolutely! have a look at the malformations in his lumbar. Could this have been the cause of the unusual growth on his front hooves? Certainly! Could a trimmer have done anything to help this? No! Could a body worker have done anything to help? No! Your horse is not just a spine or just a stomach or just teeth or just hooves, everything is interrelated and all of the parts need to be considered. Develop a relationship with your Vet, trimmer, and body-worker etc and work as a team. it will be the best thing you will do for your horse.
