23.01.2022 Science week, gives the children opportunity to explore science and its impact in our world. From the ocean, to the sky, to chemicals and food. Our children have had a great week becoming little investigators.
23.01.2022 Our Kinder 2 children over the past two weeks have had a very exciting visitor in their Classroom. A traveling mascot from the Koori Curriculum. The traveling mascots travel around Australia to different Early Childhood Centres visiting the children to share and celebrate the many different ways educators are including Aboriginal perspectives in their programs. Wominjeka (welcome) Bindi. The children were very excited to welcome her to the classroom and began straight away w...ith researching all about Bilbys and their habitats. This learning extended out to learn about many other Australian animals. The children then built Bindi a house by painting an old box with Aboriginal flag colours; red, yellow & black. The children also made sure to make a barrow as this is where bilbys like to live when they are in their own natural habitat. They continue to add to this as the two weeks went on. It has been wonderful to see the children engaging together socially, showing Bindi around our Centre both indoors and outdoors, through play and learning. Fazila has been intentionally teaching the children through group discussions on where Bindi lives as to where we live on the Australian Map, the children discovered that Bindi likes the warm climate and Victoria is cold for her and they needed to keep her warm. They learned about Aboringal animal symbols and spoke about how indigenous people used to write using natural materials. It has been wonderful to see the children engage and get involved in this project, the Kinder children would like to thank the Koori Curriculum for sending Bindi to us and allowing her to visit and giving us the opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal perspectives.

17.01.2022 As most of you are aware our poor country is burning and has been burning for some time now. The communities in the fire affected areas are in desperate need for everyday items such as food (long life items eg tuna, pasta etc), bottled water, toiletries, nappies, formula etc. Foodbank Victoria is collecting the above items to distribute to those affected. If you would like to make a donation please drop them off to the centre by Tuesday 8am as Bec will be collecting them and taking them to foodbank Victoria. We just want to say a big thank-you to the wonderful firefighters for the tremendous work they are doing!
