23.01.2022 "Just two of WA’s 19 tagged sharks transmitted data in the past month, raising questions about the success of the $1 million satellite tagging program to study ...tiger sharks. US research outfit Ocearch, in a joint project with the University of WA and the Australian Institute of Marine Research, tagged the mature tiger sharks along the WA coast over 11 days in April last year. According to Ocearch, all but one of the tagged sharks were fitted with real-time satellite trackers, transmitting data every time the animal surfaced." 21.01.2022 Water balloons..the most socially acceptable method of littering? We know they can be fun but the consequences are lots of polluting pieces of litter. And now t...here's the #balloonomatic that pumps out 100 balloons in 60 secs. Call me a grinch but this seems like a very polluting product & I hope in future we consider the end result of our actions more. #rant #waterballoons #litter #heytosser #balloonsblow #take3forthesea #pickitup #binit See more

17.01.2022 I'm shocked & ashamed that the latest research suggests we are using TWICE as many #plasticbags in Australia every year than as previously reported. In this day... & age when we know as much as we do about the impacts of #plasticpollution & acknowledge that sending unnecessary waste to landfill is...a waste! Then why don't we have a nationwide ban? Why don't we have an effective state ban? Why are our communities not banding together to #banthebag ? Well, the answer is that we are! The campaigns are strong & they're everywhere. The question is? Will the decision makers listen? 06.01.2022 Ouch! Seriously ouch.. Like this photo if you pledge to #refuse plastic straws. A 10cm plastic straw is removed from the nostril of an Olive Ridley Sea Turtle b...y researchers in Costa Rica. There's a video showing the whole process, it's hard to watch but at least the turtle will breathe easier now. This instance shows yet again the pervasiveness of plastic & why we need to greatly reduce all sources of plastic pollution.
