23.01.2022 #repost @danielandrewsmp ... How can you help regional Victoria recover? Go on a holiday. Today we headed to Whitfield to announce over $460 million to boost tourism and support Victoria's regional towns and communities to get back on their feet. It includes infrastructure upgrades, events funding, vouchers and advertisements and it'll make holidaying at home easier and cheaper for families too.... Over 120,000 travel vouchers will be available to help cover the cost of accommodation, attractions and tours so Victorians can spend more money in local communities. Almost $300 million will build and upgrade attractions across the state, including the Grampians, High Country, Gippsland, Great Ocean Road, King Valley and more so that every corner has an attraction to be proud of. And over $20 million will be spent bringing big events to small communities too, supporting the existing festivals and events that've been hardest hit by this pandemic. It isn't just festivals and infrastructure either we're helping local Aboriginal groups share their stories and history too, with funding to help attract tourists to cultural sites and events. This is the biggest regional tourism package we've ever funded, but it'll be worth every bit. Because each dollar spent is a dollar in the pockets of regional small businesses, suppliers, pubs, cafes, hotels and restaurants. And a big boost for local economies too. From drought to bushfires and a global pandemic these communities have done it tougher than ever before. But if we want our state to recover, we need our regions to recover stronger than ever. So please, get your friends together, give the family a ring and go see the best that Victoria has to offer.

23.01.2022 Shoutout and tag your local Tradies across the High Country! August is Tradies National Health Month (TNHM), a campaign that places a firm focus on the health of Australia's Tradies and encourage them to look after their wellbeing. According to Safe Work Australia, Tradies account for 60% of all injury and musculoskeletal disorders across all occupations - That's a significant impact on families, businesses and communities. In a bid to drive awareness of, and encourag...e a healthy workplace and injury prevention or management, TNHM provide a number of resources across their website www.tradieshealth.com.au and social media channels. They're also running a online competition where Tradies can get involved and showcase how they stay fit and healthy. 17.01.2022 I know everyone’s hanging out for this one so I’ll cut to the chase. Victoria will move to the Last Step from 11.59pm tonight. That’ll mean more people can get ...together 15 visitors to your home and 50 outdoors in a public place. Numbers at gyms will increase to 150 with group limits of 20 and venue density limits. Hospitality also increases to 150 inside for larger venues and 50 for smaller ones with density limits based on their size. Up to 150 people can attend weddings and funerals. And the number caps will be increased for other venues community centres, galleries, museums and more. I'll put all the details in the comments. There will be a staged return to offices for staff who've spent the past six+ months in Zoom meetings too with up to 25 per cent able to come back onsite at any one time. Everyone else will need to keep working from home. We’re also changing the rules around masks. They’ll still be mandatory indoors and on PT but you won’t need one outside, so long as you’re able to keep a safe distance from others. To put it into context, that means wearing a mask if you’re at a busy outdoor market or event but not if you’re out walking the dog. You'll need to carry a mask at all times for when it's required. I’m sure some people think everything should be thrown open completely now that we’ve gone three weeks without a case. But that’s precisely the point. We’ve only got to zero cases because of masks and distancing and everyone playing their part. Keeping these protections around a bit longer means that if we were to get a case, the risk of it spreading faster and wider will be much lower. And most Victorians would agree it’s a relatively small imposition for a potentially huge benefit. Just finally, to everyone looking ahead to Christmas and planning how many seats at the lunch table you'll be able to have 30 visitors at home, including kids. We'll have more to say on other settings soon, based on the latest public health advice. This has been a year like no other and one most of us would probably rather forget. Victorians have sacrificed so much and done it so tough. But even in the darkest of winter days, we stuck together and supported each other. And for that I am so grateful and so very proud.

17.01.2022 So glad we live where we do We really feel for those who can't make it up here at the moment, I know if it was our household, we would go a little insane. 03.01.2022 Regional Victoria we have moved to the Second Step of the roadmap - easing of restrictions include: Up to five people can get together in outdoor public place...s from a maximum of two households. Those living alone or single parents to have one other person in their home. Outdoor pools can open. The big one for parents of small people - Playgrounds open. Religious services outside with a maximum of five people, plus a faith leader. Given the incredible effort of regional Victorians, we will continue to closely monitor the 14-day rolling cases average, which currently sits at 3.9 for regional communities. If this effort continues, we will move to the Third Step in a matter of days - which is significantly closer to ‘COVID’ normal.

03.01.2022 It's now easier to stay up to date on active cases per postcode. Remember to mask up and stay safe High Country Victoria.
