15.01.2022 Season Update. With the slight easing of restrictions the cricket season is now fast approaching. At this stage we are set to begin on the 14th of November, this will ultimately be determined by the covid restrictions at the time. Likewise training is set to begin from the 1st of November, again this will also be dependent on restrictions easing as forecast. Our first senior training session is penciled in for Thursday the 5th of November, this may change though depending w...hich way restrictions go. While we all want to get back out there as soon as possible it is extremely important that the procedures set out by Cricket Victoria and the State government are followed all. Players will be made aware of all of their individual requirements on that part. Part of these guidelines means that unfortunately for the time being there will be no spectators allowed. We will update you all when it is appropriate to do so.Stay safe and we hope to see you all soon.
15.01.2022 A big call out to Highett Community Bank Branch (Bendigo Bank) for their support of our cricket club this season. Their community grants program has assisted Highett West Cricket Club, as well as many other local sporting clubs and community organisations. Our club has run a successful junior program this year, encouraging local kids to play, learn and have fun with cricket. Our Seniors too, encourage all age participation and have benefited through this support. Manager Chris Wheeler, his team and their Board do some fantastic work in our community - thank you from Highett West CC. #highettcommunity
15.01.2022 We hope this season ends on a joyful note and continues into a safe and prosperous New Year for all our Members, Supporters and their Families!
15.01.2022 Giving thanks to our Sponsor of the week, Gray-Nicolls Australia/New Zealand Gray-Nicolls was formed in the 1940’s at the merger of two well-known cricket bat manufacturers, H.J. Gray and Sons and L.J. Nicolls. At this time, the company also acquired the famous brands of Shaw & Shrewsbury and Wainwrights, and England captain Wally Hammond and Australian star Keith Miller began using Gray-Nicolls. The brand grew in stature in the 1950’s and 60’s, and at one stage the captains ...of all five test playing countries were using the now world-renown brand (Ted Dexter, Richie Benaud, Frank Worrell, John Reid and Trevor Goddard). In 1972, a new Gray-Nicolls factory was opened in Melbourne to supply the growing demand from the Australian and New Zealand markets. Gray-Nicolls remains the only brand to produce bats in the UK and Australia, and the only bat company to control the complete process from planting willow to delivering bats to international players like Matthew Hayden and Andrew Symonds #supportlocal #supportoursponsors #highettwestcricketclub

04.01.2022 Highett Community Bank Branch, doing great things for our community.
03.01.2022 Super excited to let everyone know that our fantastic First XI have won and will move onto the next round in the finals. It was an impressive performance from this side all set up by the first days play with the ball. The fielding was nothing short of international standards. The supreme heat from Adnan, the sublime effort and unforgiving bowling of Brett, the cunning and devious spin off Itchy along with the usual line and length from Kim. We took early wickets and strangled t...he run scoring with maximum effort in the field taking out their major run getters for the year very cheaply. Winton was unstoppable behind the stumps with two magnificent leg side catches at key moments. Bretts diving at full stretch forward at fine leg to dismiss one of their key players was unbelievable. The highlight of the fielding was an absolute one handed screamer from one of our new recruits at the club Ed (the bison) taking a full superman dive to his left at square leg. The best fielding this club has seen with every effort put in at every moment during the day! In the batting performance it was calm cool and calculated. We lost Nathan off a thigh pad catch to the keeper to an over which never should have happened on the first day and was supremely unlucky. The number 11 was sent in to see off one ball as night watchmen to complete that days play. When we resumed we had Kerrod and Kim at the crease with all the days overs in hand and required just a poultry 124 off 65 overs at less than 2 an over to secure victory. These two just stayed in there putting on a few runs before Kerrod took a swing at a short one and unlucky only connected with the thinnest of edges to the keeper. This brought Winton (Stoinis) to the crease and with a solid job by the night watchmen just hanging around to support Winton made it to drinks with the game comfortably in control. Kim lost his mind shortly after drinks slashing at one outside off and got a massive chunky edge that was caught at fly slip. Ed came in and looked great with a few massive hits and unfortunately smashed one to the left of cover to the only left handed fielder who pulled off a remarkable stop and run Ed out at the bowlers end. In next was Itchy who also with Winton controlled the pace of the game with continuous change off strike and some reserved smashing of the ball to all parts and looked to be cruising. Looking to get the game over with Itchy missed timed one to long off unluckily. In went Pete, out went Pete adjudged lbw off an inside edge. The skipper Rob come in and with the ever reliable Winton finished the chase off. Winton finishing the day unbeaten on 48! We play the Melbourne dazzlers at Le page park no.2 this coming Saturday with the game starting at 1.30. With this stunning performance from our side to continue another win is on hand. So come down and support them and really get behind this team to help bring out there best! #GOTHEBURRA
03.01.2022 U/14’s have set 56 to defend to bring a flag home against Elwood
03.01.2022 ******The season reviews ( so far)**** Firstly I would like to thanks all the players supporters and administrators of this great club for another outstanding year. It has been a tough slog throughout with a longer season and many hurdles to jump. I would like to start with an update of our fantastic under 12c side who have played the first day of there semi final and am happy to report they are in a very strong position. Posting 3 for 66 off the allocated 15 overs and have ...the opposition at 4 for 60 in their 15 overs. Next Sunday’s end to this game is going to be a nail bitter so get down and show your support. Game starts at 9 am at our home ground! The second XI this year have had a very tough time with player availability and have really done this club proud. Unfortunately they have just missed out on finals. Avi as captain has been an adventure but has proved to be an asset to the club. They finished the year off in sixth spot just short with one more win it may have seen them through. Great effort boys. Our unstoppable third XI restricted one day side. Have bullied there way in to a GRAND FINAL! They will play Brighton union at elsternwick park oval number 4 this coming Saturday with the match starting at 1pm. So really get behind this lot of old timers and has beens with the future junior stars thrown in! Give them the fight of there lives boys! Our first XI have secured a finals birth with a few results going our way to keep the dream alive. They come up against a strong South East Caulfield side in the semi final. With all guns firing a win is one the cards in this crucial elimination final. Game starts at 1.30 pm at east Caulfield reserve. Make a day of it and get down to show your support to all these side and get right behind them as we strive for that glory we so richly deserve!
