18.01.2022 We hope you are having an awesome Dental Health Week, Everybody! Now that we have had the opportunity to conquer brushing, heres the masterclass in flossing!!! Brushing helps us clean about 60% of a tooths surfaces, however, without flossing up to 40% of the tooth remains uncleaned. Often this results in bad odours from retained food, gum disease due to bacteria attracted by the old food and an increased risk of tooth decay.... Check out the informative video below for an easy introduction to flossing. We previously posted a written "how-to" guide to flossing (with two different methods of preparing your floss - one with Dr Bill Morris special method). You can find it here: http://highgatehilldentist.com.au/flossing-new-year-resolu/ Flossing childrens teeth may sound difficult but it does not have to be. We believe it is important to start good habits early. You can find our guide here: http://highgatehilldentist.com.au/how-to-floss-childrens-t/ Flossing only takes a few minutes of your time every night, but the benefits will last you a lifetime. Happy flossing and we will see you at your next checkup! #dentalhealthweek #watchyourmouth #flossing #highgatehilldentalcentre

So this year we are concentrating on bringing awareness to all the hidden sugars in our grocery purchases. We want you to be a bit more "sugar savvy" about your purchases and how they will ultimately affect your and your familys overall health and teeth. You can visit the Australia Dental Associations Dental Health Week website for more information at https://www.ada.org.au/Dental-Health-Week-2020/home. 02.01.2022 Hi Everybody! Welcome to Dental Health Week (August 5 - August 11)! Did you know that according to the latest research by the Australian Dental Association: ... * 50% of Australians brush their teeth only once a day * 40% of Australians never floss their teeth; and * 65% of Australians havent seen a dentist in over 2 years? That is why for Dental Health Week this year, we are checking in to see "Hows Your Oral Health Tracking?" This is an extension of the the ADAs Oral Health Tracker - which is a world-first initiative that documents and tracks the oral health status of Australians. Its a little report card, to see how we are collectively doing at looking after our smiles as a nation. This year we are focusing on some easy and important changes in behaviour to keep your teeth and gums looking and feeling great : 1. using a fluoride toothpaste to brush 2 times a day 2. using floss or an interdental toothbrush to clean between your teeth at least once a day 3. reducing sugar intake and eating a balanced diet 4. Regularly seeing the dentist for preventative checkups! And for those of you that are already doing it, good on you, you should be so proud! For more information on the week itself, head on over to: https://www.ada.org.au/Dental-Health-Week/Home And for more dental information and information about our clinic, you can also check out our blog: https://highgatehilldentist.com.au//highgate-hill-dental-/ Happy Dental Health Week! Hope to see you, your family and your lovely smile soon at your next check up with us. #dentalhealthweek
01.01.2022 Happy Dental Health Week, Everybody! (And that includes you, kids!) This year we are checking in to see Hows Your Oral Health Tracking?... Statistics from the Australian Dental Associations Oral Health tracker have shown that: Up to 34.3% of children between the ages of 5 and 6 have experienced tooth decay in their baby teeth; while Only 68.5% of children between the ages of 5 and 14 brush their teeth twice daily with a fluoridated toothpaste. One of the main aims of this years Dental Health Week is a focus on brushing twice daily with a fluoridated toothpaste. It is always best to ask your childs dentist what is best for your child, as every child is different. There are a lot of products to choose from when it comes to children, and we have written a general guide to childrens toothpaste and toothbrushes to help parents navigate all the choices available. You can find it on our blog here: https://highgatehilldentist.com.au/kids-toothbrush-and-too/ It is our belief that having an awesome first impression at the dentist is helpful for establishing great, healthy lifelong dental habits. Our Highgate Hill Dental team are always trying our best to give kids a fun experience when they visit us. We think it takes away some of that anxiety of the unknown and also helps teach kids that a trip to the dentist is not as scary as people may have told them. They also experience that regular checkups are easy, and not something to dread. Picking up where the dental team left off, parents can then concentrate on establishing good brushing and flossing habits at home: brushing twice a day and flossing once nightly. For more dental information and information about our clinic, you can also check out our blog: https://highgatehilldentist.com.au//highgate-hill-dental-/ Happy Dental Health Week! Hope to see you, your family and your lovely smile soon at your next check up with us. #dentalhealthweek
