24.01.2022 Another home with recalled RCBOs If you have these installed the ACCC Product Safety Australia recomends you should call an Electrical Contractor to have them replaced. The recall was done in 2011, we find these to be in many home renovations done around that period.

23.01.2022 Automatic transfer switch in operation! Generator was already running, ordinarily the transfer switch would auto start the generator on power failure then shut it down once power restored. Client is using 11kva 3phase diesel generator. Runs the pump, lights and even got the oven going !

15.01.2022 Electrical Home Safety: An integral part of your home/business electrical design is the main earth. Pictured is the main earth with a bond to the copper water pipe. Many older homes have this installed but it may have been damaged, disconected or destroyed. Take 5min to walk around your home and look for this. Usually near the copper pipes. Older homes may have a star picket or similar, with either a green cable or green and yellow cable.... If you cant find one, call us to arrange an inspection. It forms a critical part in the fault loop protection system. See more

14.01.2022 Loose light fitting made contact with the light bracket, RCD broke in the process and caused arcing and sparks to fly down from the ceiling light. Good reminder to check your RCDs every 6 months

10.01.2022 Home Safety January is a good month to test your RCDs. Follow these steps:... 1. Shut down your electronic appliances (tv, pc etc) 2. Go to your switchboard and press the "TEST" button on your RCD or RCBO. 3. It should instantly trip to the "OFF" position 4. Reset the RCD or RCBO to its original position and return to what you were doing Test done! *If it fails to "trip" or wont reset you may need to replace your RCD or RCBO. Remember the RCD or RCBO is there to protect life, not equipment. Replacements are quick and necesary to safeguard from electric shock in your home or office.

08.01.2022 Result of tampering with the HRC fuse. Theses fuses are part of SPD (service protection device) and sit under your meter panel, protecting Western Powers incoming feed to the property. This may have resulted in far worse final outcome then a slap on wrist from Western Power and call out and repair bill. If you need/want more power do the right thing and call us, to discuss your options.

06.01.2022 Broken insulation around the copper, sign of old age and definitely due for replacement. Once removed, multiple points along the cable run had similar cracks and breaks. Very dangerous if not noticed by Western Power

The unit will no longer repeatedly heat then cool over 24hrs but only heat during the selected time periods on the timer. 05.01.2022 Western Power picked a good day to disconnect overheads to install new consumer mains. Whilst changing the meter the technician spotted dangerous consumer mains which had cracked and broken insulation. The power was cut off and a disconnection notice was left for the home owner. We arrived shortly after midday and had the new mains installed by 4pm. Scheduled reconnection at 7pm ... Wet weather wouldnt have permitted this...
