24.01.2022 September 30 - We Make Events is a global recognition that the events industry is hurting! We remember March 13 very clearly as the day when our plans for 2020 and beyond came to a very quick cross road! For HIL we had to devise a survival plan, push hard to make sure that we would survive & be able to support the fantastic staff that work for us. ... At the end of the day we are passionate about lighting and love what we get to call work! One of my questions back in March was just how long until we get to do a festival again?. I think for our industry festivals and concerts are two of the most rewarding and fun events! While going to to the movies, taking your family 10 pin bowling and enjoying a local accustic act on the grass is fantastic!...... Nothing quite beats when the headline artist goes to black ready for the anticipation of what is their first song of the set! The scary thing is 7 months in the answer to that question is still pretty unclear. For HIL being a production buisness in Australia.... I am truly thankful for the government support we have been given to date. We have had access to job keeper, small grants, GST breaks, We did also qualify for a government assisted loan to bridge a gap for us while we had no income. We have appreciated friends, family and staff that have rallied around us knowing that we have been going through a pretty rough season! We do need a better plan for getting back to what we call work & the reality is YES concerts, festivals, Opra, Musicals ect will come back..It's just how much longer do we need to wait & how can we support those who need it to make it to GO time!

23.01.2022 2020 has been full of SURPRISES! In the last 2 weeks we have experienced chaos through to confusion and while we believe our government is doing their bit to protect us it came at the cost of our work + others no longer being required. This weekend was going to be a cracker with festivals, Sporting Shows & Other fun Installations throughout Brisbane. While some have been rescheduled most of our work for the foreseeable future has been shutdown. We are looking forward to the end of Corona, getting back to being creative and enjoying what we get to call work!
